I've played with the same drum player
for the last 30 some years. Were more
than friends, we've had some pretty
good fights, and all sorts of other dealings.
I call him Brother Bill and he'll be here at 1 pm
today for the Sunday hippie jam/play (pictures coming),
His step brother is who I started in music with
40 years ago, and we've had some scuffs, but
he's liable to show up today. The bass player who I was closest
with and is dead now, we fought regularly, and ran
around together pretty thick. So yeah I would fight
one of my band members. Maybe that's part of our problem now
trying to build a large band, but were men, and treat people
with the respect they show. The singer I started out
with Terry, I hit him in the face with the headstock of
a guitar one night on stage, we were DRUNK,
were all still friends. Well got the big hippie jam/play
today expecting a crowd, no equipment for me to move,
hope there's no fights, oh wait this MO if I feel threatened
on my property I can shoot your azz, hope nobody
gets shot today.

NIce Mr. Lynard, that post really got to me..

Real people are hard to disguise, regardless.

If I ever got to the point that I wanted to fight my bandmates then I would just quit before one or both of us got hurt.

I play music cause I enjoy it, not to be fighting although that does seem to happen sometimes. At my age I feel truelly blessed to play with the guys I do, I would do anything within reason for them and I know they would for me, so fighting just doesnt fit in there, I got plenty of that from my ex, LOL!

Ive hit my singer with a guitar and hes hit me with a mic stand, I never took it personal cause he and I have always been on the same page about conquering audiences. We are a team, and we work together.

If anyone in the group was truelly not in good enough shape to load gear I would just say hey man sit this one out, Ive got it, cause most of the pa is mine and I dont want it to get beat up too bad!

Anyway, I really have nothing else to say on this one.

I'm too old to scrap for kicks like we did as kids.

If I have to fight, someone's going to the hospital or the morgue.

That's it we were kids, and we liked to fight.
I thought back then that was part of your image
as a southern rock band. We bounced at some of
bars we played in. We enjoyed drinking and
fighting and didn't hide it. Come on Sans you surely
enjoyed your kung fu fights, for us it was part of
nights entertainment. We were rough boys when
we were in our twenties, I thought I was immortal.

Anyhow my old buddy Terry showed up, to sing for
us Sunday, we've played in bands together since I
was 14, his Stepbrother Bill showed up to drum, we've
played together off and on since 1979. Were family
and we have fought over the years, were not just
friends. My new signature line is the title to a song
I wrote back in 1980, about my old ladies Dad and
his buddies, talk about a bunch of guys that would
whip your ass, I miss those guys.

Mr Scott I don't understand kinda blurs
the line of sarcasm, but I've never claimed

Yes I enjoyed my Kung Fu fighting days.
Most ( not all ) of those were under a gentleman's agreement of sorts.
The few times I have had to use my Gung Fu for real I did not enjoy it at all.
I was too busy just being present in the moment to think about it ... and people got hurt, intentionally.
I studied gung fu for strength of character and discipline in my life.
The greatest benefit was in gaining some healing helpful knowledge, vastly improving my ability to focus, as well as conquering my addictions.
Learning to efficiently disable or kill if necessary, was only a side effect.

Don't worry Lynard, it wasn't a putdown.

That was meant as a positive.
