I'm going to start learning to use Sony Acid Studio 6.0... Does anyone use this software to help them with jazz recordings? Is there something out there that the jazz musicians are using thats different from Acid? Send some material my way... I'd like to hear whats possible.
Thnx,
bjazzy

Acid is a decent little program. It's a step up from most of the freebies but not as feature rich as the pro software. My only real complaint about it is a lack of a true mixing interface and the effects are pretty skimpy. Like all software it is only a tool and will only perform as well as the music it has to work with. It's a good software to get your feet wet with but you'll want to move up to a pro program eventually.

Two of the tunes in my profile, A Good Day and Something New are somewhat jazz and both were recorded, arranged and mixed with Acid. 8)

I use Sony Acid Music Studio, and it meets my needs.
.
I use it for multitrack recording, and I've done a couple dozen Jazz recordings on it; Cool Jazz, Hot Jazz, Funk-Jazz, Blues-Jazz, Swing-Jazz . . . a couple others . . . only 2 of my jazzy songs are posted here, because of a dozen pending copyrights. (I do several styles of music besides jazz).
.
Anyway;
There are several different editions of Sony Acid Software.
Several price ranges, too, depending on the features you need.
The lowest priced Sony Acid Software is Sony Acid Music Studio, for about $80.
Offhand, I couldn't tell you the price of the most expensive they have - google it, though, Sony has it's own Sony Acid music site . . . lots of samples there . . .

I don't know if you'll even need any effects at all for your style of Jazz, but the $80 version gives you chorus, flange, distortion, echo, and reverb.
If you use distortion, you probably won't like theirs . . .
All I ever use is a very, very slight echo & reverb . . .
All offer looping, although I never use it.
All come w/a few hundred drum tracks . . .
You can record unlimited tracks. The most I've ever used on one song was 14 tracks - no problems . . .

Thanx for the feeback...
It sounds as if there are some decent possibilities with acid in the jazz realm. I look forward to experimenting and with time will upgrade and continue to strive for excellence.
