Cool, I hope it works for you. I'm primarily a Fender and Peavey fan, my Peaveys have been excellent and so far my Super Reverb has been the best sounding amp I've ever played. 60 watts should be plenty for anything but large arenas, and for small clubs you'll have to keep it around half volume at best, especially if it has fairly efficient speakers. My Super Reverb is 45 watts and I can only crank it all the way late at night or in large places. Usually it starts out around half volume.

I have a Peavey MX, and Classic 212 from late 70's, both have been very dependable and sound great, anything I want sonically I can get with pedals, the MX is the best clean amp I've ever seen except for maybe David Gilmour's Hiwatts.

I don't know much about the Ultra, but if t's all tube and uses 6L6s it should get pretty close to a Fender sound, and the right pedals will get you into metal territory. EL34s will put it closer to a Marshall sound. I like my 4x10 Super Reverb, I can't tell much difference between it and the average 4x12 rig. It moves enough air to get me plenty bass, but at 86 lbs it ain't light...I think the MX head is close to 70, no wonder I have a hernia...

That's always been my biggest complaint about guitar & bass amps...well, & PA stuff...the weight!!

& I hear ppl say that we don't have a "real" job...then YOU pick that damned thing up after putting in 4 hrs of playing your butt off onstage, after practicing for innumerable hrs after saving every damned cent to AFFORD it for months or years & busting yer butt to GET the gig & then tell me it isn't WORK, ya bum!

Cool! I had one of the first runs of the 5150. The high gain on the lead channel was heavanly, but the clean channel sounded like a fart. Really. And no reverb. I hope the Ultra works out for you. I heard the Ultra's distortion is over the top! Like the others here, I got tired of hauling the head & 412 cab around.

Once the amp ships in from Pennsylvania and I get it set. When I get it, I'm gonna take her outside and let that son of a bitch get the whole neighborhood's attention. Gonna wail till the cops come a knockin!

Got one long ago, and believe me I use it...didn't seem to be much of a problem when I was 20...but now at 52, carrying a 85 lb amp is a chore...

Excellent observations philby, I have no idea how many times I've told people the exact same thing. Cart my rig and a PA in and out of a club along with 4 hours of playing on a hot stage and tell me you're not working...
