Hello,
I use samples all the time. now, before you call me a rapper...
I generally use acoustic drum samples but have written bass and even guitar parts using samps/kontakt (check my profile I just uploaded a new 'metal' tune).
just curious who else in here uses kontakt or other sampler
anyone using samples as replacement sounds for electronic drum kit?

hello J, been a while.
as usual you are too kind
in answer to your q: yes and no. I wrote it but I can neither play that fast nor that clean. It was written on the staff and played back through a kontakt instrument.
thanks for taking the time to listen and your kind comments!

Really enjoyed both of the first two tracks. I think those might be the best quality demos I've heard on bandmix.

J-Haley: thanks again. I try to take time to return the favor and give a listen to other folks when they've done that for me. I listened to "katie". I like the gilmour treatment with the trem. it's a very nice touch. I want to steal your drummers snare too!
also listened to main st. nice voice. like the breakup - more of that please.
schmedidiah: I tried to listen to your music but sadly I couldn't find anything. I appreciate your kind words, I have a fragile ego and I'll take all the compliments I can get. thanks for taking the time.

Thanks Mistermikev, David Gilmour sound is what I was shooting for. I played all those parts with exception of the drums. I use discreet drums that came with my hard disk recorder. it is a real digitized drum track that can be manipulated measure by measure. Its old school by today's standard but still works very well for my needs. Basically I am just venting my creative side! The acoustic part of that recording is something I wrote bout 10 years ago and is really a very solid song in itself. I could take all that fancy lead playing out and still have a good song. I have always liked pushing the limits to see what comes out. Some folks agree with what I do with it, and some just kind of scratch their head and say........ Huh?

wow, sounded like a very 'live' recording. nice work. did not realize it wasn't a real drummer.
schemediah: well, you can always do midi?
back in 98 I got my first computer and not many people had the equip/money to do audio on pc... midi was all I had! just a thought. would love to hear your stuff.

hello,
thanks schem I'm flattered but really not interested in jamming right now. I guess you could say I "only like to play with myself" (hehe). The think about a computer is we get along great, it always shows up to practice, it will play whatever boring sh*t I'm into that day, it doesn't do drugs, doesn't try to be the leader of the band... Tis the perfect band for me!

I have a Kontakt icon on my screen (which was put there by a very kind and competent fellow, who was helping me.
trying to help me, anyway). I don't know what it is or does!

well, when I started out I had a pII 500mhz processor and 128mb of ram.
I guarantee either of your computers will run circles around that.
my advice would be that y'all need to start out w something simple, like fruity loops. use it to build rhythm tracks you can jam to (assuming you have any desire to do so). doesn't require much from your computer or soundcard.
either way, keep on rockin' in the free world.
