I like the Johnny Smith pickups in my Firebird. Also the Pearly Gates bridge pickup in my Strat.

For Bass I used to use Humbuckers (as in T-Bass) but these days fall back on standard P-Bass pickup. I have active pickups in my Hohner Bass V and yeah, they sound pretty good too - just don't like dealing with batteries.

I hear EMG (is that right?) is preparing some non battery active pu.
