Man I've been wanting a scallop guitar for awhile now, but it's pretty rare to find them in music stores. You almost need to order a neck from Warmoth Custom.
Watching a Joe Stump video recently, ( a shredder who also happens to be Instructor at Berklee College )- reason he gave for using a scalloped fretboard was the "feel" and vibrato. I notice both Stump and Yngvie, besides speed, have really wicked vibrato styles - see Youtube for Joe Stump "Demons Eye".... Want to see beautiful scalloped frets, check out John McLaughlin on the cover of Guitar Player, August 1978... 37 years ago!
EDIT - found the Scalloped Guitar Necks page from Warmoth. Check it out.
