New Amp

I recently purchased a Fryette Memphis amp.

1x12 combo, 2 channels, it has 4 EL 84 tubes in it.

I am loving this amp, its got one of the best clean tones of any amy Ive every owned. It was cold yesterday so I spent most of the day playing with this amp, ussually I go for the gainy side of an amp, but this one made me want to play on the clean side of things.

Its super responsive to your pick attack, how hard or soft you pick, where you set your guuitar volume and tones, just millions of tones out of this amp.

Its switchable between 30 and 18 watts, so i have my clean channel set for 30 watts and the dirty channel set for 18 watts.

I played with some guys sat afternoon for a few hours, and they were amazed at how it sounded, plus the other guitarist was playing thru a half stack and he couldnt believe how well this amp cut thru, with out being overbearing.

I found out some neat tricks also. It has a footswitch with it, that changes channels and engages an extra tube boost, so in essence it has 4 channels, clean, clean/boost with breaks up a little, dirty, dirty/boost with gets really gritty sounding. I noticed there was another place to hook a footswitch to kick the reverb and effects loop on and off, well I had an old footswitch and when I kick it, I get another boost out of it. so it turns the little monster into a 6 channel amp.

Very sweet amp, even heavily distorted it still gives individual string definition if that makes sense, it doesnt get flubby sounding.

Im really stoked about this amp and its portability, just an awesome piece of equipment.

Sounds like a little bit of heaven JW. :D

Does she have a direct out or would you need to mic her if you wanted to go into a board / record ?

No direct out, you would have to mic it George.

Its just a sweet amp.

I picked up a Tiny Terror Combo (Orange) which is cool too, but its not really much of a clean amp, got a great distortion sound.

Cool.
Mic'ing is no problem. I think I actually prefer it since I started using an e609 .

George I took it to an open mic last night and let a couple of my buddies play on it while i was out front, and man this amp just has the smoothest tone of any amp Ive ever owned.

Whats really cool is noone knows what it is, they are like never heard of this amp, and of course I say well til I heard it, Ive never heard of one of them.

I love the clean tones on it, but out front they started playing some heavy music with crunch and it sounds great, with out being harsh like some of my other amps.

Im digging it man

I never heard of that amp before, either - $1350.00 used, $2000 new, yikes! It better be smooth AND ballsy!

Yea Mike the price of entry on one of these isnt cheap.

Its funny there is a really good band in Memphis, they are called Almost Famous, and the other night I ran into one of them, and they are using Line 6 XTs run straight in the board and in ear monitors. The videos of them sound great.

Im gonna play with some guys tonight, so I will get another chance to play on it live, but its a very very sweet amp.
