The Taylor ES (Expression System) acoustic pickup system has a TRS (balanced) output jack. You can use a standard TS guitar cable, but if you use a TRS cable (to XLR), you can plug into a board's XLR input and get a much stringer signal.
Many have argued that the overall sound is the same, just louder, but because you end up going through the board's mic preamp, you can get a better sound - not just louder, although it does depend on the board.
I used a balanced cable last night for the first time, and what a world of difference it made to my sound. I'll be taking the cable with me from now on - I just wish my guitar case had room for it.
