For many years I have tryed all the pro setups for miking acoustic guitars live "the angles, the mic's ect". It has always worked fine however, keeping up with the electric guitars has always been a challange because of the gain before feedback.
I have now found the perfect combo to cut through the mix and out perform the electric's in volume. I am just posting this for information that may help anyone. I use the Shure Beta 58 lower right of the resonant cavity and this JVC shotgun mic M-510 pointed between the 8th and 12th fret. With this combo I get a killer bottom end with head room in the mid's and high's to die for. I swear getting good live sound is a art form in itself.

Usually when I have to mike my acoustic, I use a dean markley pro-mag grand humbucking pickup, then run that through my hartke a100 bass combo, giving me a 7 band EQ to dick around with until I get it how I want it.

Pickups are the easiest (and probably the cheapest way) of doing things.

I don't use it because my Takamine is already electric. But from the comments I've seen, it seems to work pretty well.
