Any companies developing something like Fractal's Axe FX?

I live in UK, where the exported Fractal Audio Axe FX seems ridiculously expensive compared with the US price. However, I'd guess that other companies will be developing something similar, as I'm sure this is the way ahead for hi-tech guitarists keen to avoid the huge weight and dodgy lead probs of normal or even midi-controlled fx set-ups. (The Axe FX does seem to have got the digital thing to the stage where it does genuinely sound as good...)

Clearly my predication is a point that we can all enjoy arguing about.... but if and when someone does replicate 'real' fx guitar sounds using a 2u box that can be programmed easily, controlled on stage and is nice and light, we'll all get one.

SO does anyone have thoughts on this - and are Vox, Boss, Zoom etc looking at doing something similar to the Fractal stuff - which is definitely streets ahead to the extent of being a different product...
