So I bought a Korg padKontrol the other day and hooked it up. Mind you I have a usb midi keyboard as well as an mbox2 pro running on my system. I had read up on the padKontrol and even watched tutorials on how to get it up and running with Reason. Well, I got everything installed and fire up Reason. It isn't recognized as a controller for some reason. I went back through the setup files and did some troubleshooting on the midi in/out settings. You're supposed to set the midi in/out to PortA for the padKontrol. For some reason, I don't have that as an option. I went into my device manager and found the driver. It says on the main screen everything is working properly but when you go into driver properties it says something like "Driver installed successfully but not functioning properly".

UGH.

I got this thing about 5 days ago and haven't had any luck.... of course I've been pre-occupied with my midi keyboard and protools. Craziness.

It used a driver that isn't the correct one.

1) remove driver software previously installed.

2) use a cleaner program and make sure it's all gone.
No file folder for this device either (c:/program files/name of company makes device. Get rid of it.

3) make sure you know EXACTLY what driver is supposed to be used.
If unsure, call company.

4) restart computer

5) plug in device, DO NOT DETECT AUTOMATICALLY.
Instead, select "I will choose driver"

6) navigate to exact driver and install.
restart comp. and you should be ok.

IF YOU DO THIS AND IT DOES THE SAME THING, you didn't get all the driver files. Knowing the real driver to direct the install to is the most important thing.

KORG used to be notoriously bad at writing thier user manuals. I wonder if that isn't part of your problem. I'd contact the company.
