In order to create more room on the PA I have taken the 8 channel Fender PA Tony picked up and routed all the drum mic's directly into it. The Main signal feed then as just one line into the Main PA system.
At first test the theory seems to work OK.
Hopefully it will allow Steve to adjust his drum mic's independently and EQ the drums as well. This should allow me to adjust the overall volume of the kit through both the Monitors and the Mains as we sound check.
I can also add compression if needed to the overall drum mix with a single pug in compressor.
Be interesting to see how well the theory pans out at the next rehearsal.

I think you are on the right path Sans that is called submixing the drums I did it for a long time and it has other problems that will rear their head. But for the most part it works. I finally got tired of the extra set up time and purchased one mixer that does all the jobs. I sold the Yamaha 12/4 that I was useing but the smaller mixer that I was submixing the drums with I now use for my personal rehearsal here at the house. I have my old Johnson Marquee amp that has the option of turning off the speaker and I have the speaker Off with the emulated line out going into the mixer and my c.d. player. So its silent practicing and learning my songs. My family never hears me playing. Dang that Johnson sounds so good thru the mixer it is a modeling type amp.
I have a big audition this Thurs. the 18th with a band I went to go watch play a couple of weeks ago. I have been holding out. I am tired of wasting my time trying to get something going with players that are not on my level. Finally I have found a group that I fit like a glove, We will see though they are good. They have a female singer that is one of the best I have seen. As good as they are there is bound to be some stiff competion for the spot but I think I have a very good shot. We will see though.

I can't see how you'd not be a shoe in for the job J. For me seems the issue is the other way around. Some days I feel as my inexperience is holding the whole band back. Though I can't for the life of me understand what keeps us going and growing. Blessed with great chemistry if not the best most experienced players I guess. Takes all kinds to make a band, as much as there all kinds of bands. Most people are amazed that we write and play our own music. Never fails when someone finds out I play for a band they ask me who's music we play. I get a sense of pride when I can answer "our own". The fact that Ray and I have been at this for 5 years is a testament in it's own I suppose.
I pray the new situation will be available, and a good one for you.
Break a leg brother.

Thanks Sans, the recording I listened to the other day All That Really Matters is a beautiful song and when we go to church (probably not as often as we should) they play worship music that is very similar in genre to that song. That music is a very powerful force. Try not to underestimate the value of what you are doing God has put you in the place you are at musically for a reason. IMO as long as you guys enjoy what you are doing the music will be great with a powerful message. Thanks again for the kind words Bro. :D
