My bunch just had a bad experience with a guitar shop..really bad.

And

We also just had a really good experience, so I thought this might be a nice time to start this thread.

I would like to know who has been naughty and who has been nice, in the guitar/amp/music world that you personally know of.

I'll go 1st.

THE BAD>

We called a place in CT, WOOF, a rather well known place WOOF, in CT near Torrington. WOOF!!!! FING WOOOOF!

We won't say the name because they were WOOF! THAT bad. But if you are from the area, you'll who we are talking about. WOOF!- WOOF!- WOOF-!

So we were to buy an amp from them to replace one that sh*t the bed recently. We were 2 weeks away from 3 shows that were pretty important.

So they told us that they would send us a pic or 2 to us via email so we could check out the amp in question before we drove 2.5 hours one way to go grab this thing. We told them time was an issue, etc. They assured us that they would send the pics by Monday.

WELL, that was 2 weeks ago Monday. We sent them an email complaining that they didn't send anything and that we wanted to consign a 2K$ guitar as well. WOOOF!

They responded by calling the cops. My buddy just called, the CT police called him at home last night and told him that they wanted to make sure that he didn't call, come or show up in any way, shape or form to buy anything etc. (They are afraid of getting beat up)

I have to laugh. We work with a guy from NYC that provides us with a few dates, etc. He says he knows the owner and will make sure someone gets fired.

I said, "just don't buy anything from them, as I don't want to give them even a penny after this bullshit".

THE GOOD -

We just ran into an outfit in Edison, NJ.

http://www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com/

Fuchs is really expensive. And I do mean really expensive, but they do a good job. They tend to be a little on the short side though. They aren't really into explaining what they do. They want to take what you have, fix/mod/ODS it and get it back to you. They don't want to educate you about it.

To me, that suits me fine. I just needed to repair my older amp so that we wouldn't need a replacement and Fuchs really did me a service. They did charge a lot, but they got it done quickly and concisely. The only issue is that they don't want to tell you too much about how they did it.

lol SSDD, better than the morons in CT. They would have just sat there until their thumb ached from being up their ass for so long.

hmm, seems like there should be more to the story than that... why did they call the police again?

afa pics... how hard is it to send an elec pic via email... what moron owns a store but has no camera to take elec photos -if for nothing else but to keep his current gear insured in case of a fire. at least on this point... that store sounds like it's full of morons.

furthermore, how do you stay in biz if you don't go out of your way to end up with a happy customer even if they didn't end up buying something 'this time'.

See that's what we thought...

WE were going to buy a 1k$ amp from these "freaks".

In the email that was sent, it was intimated that we'd like to talk to the sales guy that took our info and find out why he blew us off.

I think he thought we were going to kick his ass "out back" style.

lol I have to laugh. How would we get the amp then?

Instead they lost their sh*t about the whole affair.

WE were going to consign a 1K custom shop strat that my buddy wants to sell as well.

Instead they lost both transactions. Maybe they don't need the $.

I know Fuch's doesn't. That place is rolling along like crazy.

Their artist list is impressive:
Devon Allman
Pete Anderson
John Bell
Joe Bonamassa
Nick Catanese
Bill Champlin
Bernie Chiaravalle
Jake Cinninger
Luther Dickinson
Al Di Meola
Tomo Fujita
Bruce Gaitsch
Shane Gibson
Danny Gochnour
Jeff Golub
Jeff Harding
Leo Herrera
Jimmy Herring
Paul Jackson, Jr.
Joe Jewell
Vic Juris
Mark Karan
Ben Leck
Michael Lewis
John March
Troy McLawhorn
Mike McMillan
James Nash
Matt O'Ree
Jeff Pevar
Joe Pitts
Galo Rivera
Les Sabler
Jimmy Sarle
Phil Sayce
Brady Seals
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Mike Stone
Joel Stroetzel
Ed Supple
Dangerous Dan Toler
Carl Verheyen
Steve Wright
Dweezil Zappa
Abel Zarate

And that's only a partial list. I went in there and was a bit irritable, SSDD, they took care of me in a hurry and even set me straight without pushing my face in the sh*t, even though I probably deserved as much.

FUCHS is just a holistically different type of store. I can't say I enjoy going, because I know when I do, it's going to COST ME. But at least I know when I do go there, it's done right the 1st time.

THEY REALLY DO WANT YOUR BUSINESS, and I do mean all of it.

Done right the first time costs more because you have to have knowledgeable staff / techs. Not some kid that just lost his job at McDons.
