Hi there folks, I'm in need of some assistance. I have spent several years playing guitar and bass; because both instruments have gear (ie. amps) specially designed for them, finding what I'm looking for is a pretty straightforward process. Being a vocalist was something I wanted to do ever since I got into music. The few times that I went to a place like Guitar Center, it always felt very confusing when I checked out the mic section because all I'd see are mics. Some of the forums I've browsed through suggest that a PA system and/or a mixer are needed for a vocalist rig.

So to cut the rambling short, here's what I'm needing to know:

What all is actually needed to begin?
How much would a beginning rig cost?
How much more does a gigging rig cost?
What importance does the genre have in a vocal rig?
What is considered optional for a vocalist rig?

I appreciate all the help I can get!

It depends upon the size of the venues where you plan to employ it. Are you going to run the whole band through it? (probably need more oomph)

You may assume you'll need bare minimum a set of speakers, mixer / amplifier, monitors.

Hit Google hard because there are new systems much smaller than I'm used to that seem to suffice for larger spaces than they look like they can handle. Look at high end and low end and then price what suits you at vendor sites rather than manufacturers (list price places).

Good luck.

In door full band $1,500.00 up to $10,000.00+

My best advice to you would be too get a pen and small note pad. Go to some local gigs and write down the gear that the good sounding bands are using. Talk to them and buy them a beer.
