It's definitely a different animal.

It's crazy that something that started life making "clean up in aisle 6" announcements in an A&P back in '47 can be turned into a guitar amp that mops the floor with just about every Marshall & Fender tube amp I've ever owned.

It does. I love this thing! It's as different as they come but has that old school tone us guitar player's all know and love. (litterally old school as in it was probably the public address system for a school at one time).

I found it on Craigslist. It was full of old dried up caps from not being used for many years. I sent it to a guy that is well known for rebuilding these for harp and guitar players. He definitely sprinkled some magic dust in this thing because it just drips mojo. He said he does them for recording studios. This is one of those secret weapon amps that guys use on tracks that leaves people scratching their heads trying to figure out what a player used to get "that tone".

Same can be done with a lot of old tube type PA systems. Sounds good, at least on my crappy laptop speakers...

Man I gotta get a recording done of my Fender Champ...Same amp Joe Walsh used on Funk #49 (with a Telecaster) and Clapton used on on the Layla album with a Strat, but I think his might have been the earlier version with just a volume knob.
