This is in your back yard. $600 seems a little high for a 900 in that cosmetic condition in this market. I would offer $500 and find a used 412 cab. You can pick up used 1960A cabs for about $300.

Here is a 6505 cab for $349 that you could use. The seller might even have an amp for you. That dude does some sick amp mods.

Well looky here, he does have some stuff...Click the link to his used gear list.

maybe he will cut a deal on that JSX & cab. That is Three Days Grace & Five Finger Death Punch all day.

Considering the music you play and your goals... Orange Tiny Terror/Dark Terror. It has the tone you want in an affordable package and is loud enough to run with a drummer.

My suggestion is a Marshall JCM 800 combo amp.

You want a 2x12 (4104), but you could get along very nicely with a 4210.

If I were you, I'd buy this:

50 watts of tube amp is LOUD !!! Especially if your going to operate it at distortion levels.

I recommend nothing > 5-7 watts . . . if the tone need be louder run it through the board.

JW was very taken with the TINY TERROR . . . he has been very helpful to me in the search / utilization of "tone" and I trust his judgement.

I recommend either the Carvin Vintage 16 ( the head has an internal load system so it can be ran with a line out to the board for total volume control without affecting "tone" settings.

Or

MARSHALL CLASS 5 . . . People cannot believe the crunch I get out of this thing without and pedals / effects.

Both produce a thick lush sound I have not heard from any multi effects pedal or SS amp.

To the OP, go check out the black faced Orange Tiny Terror, or even better the Jim Root model.

For the sounds you are looking for this thing will cover it and is as simple as an amp can get. I looked at the head and you would have to add a cabinet.

A nice combo setup would be a Mesa Express series amp.

I personally love the JCM 800 sound, but having had one in the early 80s, it might not cover some of the newer hi-gain bands. A tube screamer and wah with the JCM will get you that Slash tone.

To me your best bet is to take your guitar to some music stores and hook it up to some different amps, and make your decision from that.

The Tiny Terror really blew my mind, but when I went home and plugged back into my normal amp I really had no reason to buy one, cause my amp will do what that amp did anyway.
