Before it was Carvin it was sompm else. No matter what the name was then because they made guitars for other labels such as Harmony. they also produced necks for even more- other labels. Then they started making their own pickups. Did you there is about a half mile of wire in one of those things? I called about the necks they make. I wanted schematics so I could set up a CNC. Nope, no can do! Buy one measure it, drill it, 'n plug 'n hope! Definitely not for the pocket knife chizzler. Just got a part in for one of my machines, installing it tomorrow. Today I built kind of an invention that without an engine, this thing pulls -Pulls the weeds out of you garden so they don't keep re-accuring. Out here in the mid-west we have a weed that has become immune to sprays and such. It competes with corn for nutrients and chokes the harvest. First (well), second design, first prototype worked well. My Idea is this model for the small garden. Diesel powered (tractor app) for landscape farms.

I really like Carvin's power amps which I use for power for my bass rig. As far as their speakers go, it's a matter of taste in what you're trying to get with your sound. For instance, I prefer plenty of low-end (which their speaker cabinets can handle) without too much mud. I like a clear, articulate bass sound but somehow, there seems to be much adjusting to achieve this with their bass cabinets. Also, there should be a clean punchy sound with a clean pop/snap if you play this style without too much muffling on the highs. It feels as if there is a dampering or some layering on the highs, which robs the true tone of the instrument. Carvin's new bass cabs seem a bit better but they still need to work on this. I currently use a Behringer 410 bass cabinet with a Carvin DCM 1000L power amp, Sans Amp and a Fender FMT 5-string bass. I will soon post a youtube clip to illustrate my sound or if you want to hear the bass in a band setting check out my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/dnabey?feature=mhee

You should try one of their 3-way towers. ( Model 2153 I think )
The internal crossovers work well as our mains to separate the sounds out and has a clean mid that should give you the "pop" you like.
They are a 4 ohm tower so if you wanted to do R/L you'd need an amp that will push a 2 ohm load.
I'd love to have a set for our bass & drum monitors.

How's that DCM 1000L working for ya.
Hope to " retool " the band next year into a non powered mixer to aid in remote mix and sound checks.

Carvin's new concert series mixers have six monitor outs.
Heaven for a five piece band like ours.

Carvin is good gear for working musicians. I have used them for a long time... mixers and speakers in the 70s, power amps in the 80s, never owned one of their guitars but I do have a relic amp from 1949 (3-HGA, 12 watts with a 10" Jensen and bakelite cabinet). I believe that was their 1st year in business after changing their name from Kiesel.

No Carvin gear ever fried during a gig or left me stranded. I can't say that about a lot of gear.

Would I buy Carvin today? Maybe. I am currently using Fender, Mesa, Mackie, JBL and I am happy with it but things change.
