OMG what a load of crap that setup was..
Pardon me whilst I vomit..
When I first picked up the bass, I had played alittle guitar, and the crate guitar amps from the 80's wasn't half bad, so I assumed the same was true for their bass amps, so bought a BX15 combo practice amp, and it wasn't terrible, it went into it's "circuit protection bypass" mode waaaaay too easy, which shut the output down for 10seconds, while it cooled down, but it was only a little 150 watt combo, so I figured, was just too abusive at the time. A few years later, I got the chance to play again, and didn't have an amp, so a friend loaned me his Crate 2x10 300 watt combo, and this thing sounded like dog poo, no tone whatsoever, the voice coil would bottom, on any kind of slap, and make a "clanking" sound, the same excessively sensitive protection circuit continually kicked on during songs PLAYING BLUES. I couldn't get into anything at all, because it required a light touch to keep it from kicking on and shutting off for 10 seconds at a time. I will NEVER own a Crate anything.
