It would be valuable to those of us who are vocal instrumentalists...to have a vocal category in addition to keys, guitars, etc.

I think it would be good to have a "vocals - lead" on the search drop down and also when you do a search, you're previous search should populate the form so you don't have to keep filling it out over and over.

I have to agree. Vocalists are no different from any other musician.
A catagory is needed for them. In fact it should be divided into ranges.
Bass, alto, tenor, soprano etc.....

The vocalist category is seperated into ranges. It has alto, tenor, soprano, etc. As far as "lead" vocals go just put Vocals - General. As far as genre's for vocals go... put it into your description/influences to let people know what kind of music you're into, or what kind of music you sing.
