John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers classic 1967 album "A Hard Road" included the hauntingly beautiful instrumental "The Supernatural" featuring Peter Green on guitar. I loved it then, and it definitely still holds up as one of my favorite songs. Some of you may be aware that Green collaborated with Carlos Santana later on to conjure up the classic "Black Magic Woman" useing the same bass pattern.
Consider the fact that such artistic and technically proficient use of controlled feedback was pretty much unheard off previous to this release.
Every thing on this album is superb, and it also features another great blues instrumental, Freddie King's "The Stumble". Gary Moore does justice to both of these great tunes, however, He is jammin' on the shoulders of giants when were talkin' Freddie King and Peter Green.

definately worth a listen so...

CHECK IT OUT! :)

Slightly before my time Howlin. Sounds worth checking out though. My first Mayall album was "Looking Back", 1969. My favorite was "The Turning Point".

Jimmy,
Although I regard Mayall's "A Hard Road" as my favorite British blues rock album of the 60's, he followed up with two more awesome albums in short order," Crusade", featuring Mick Taylor on guitar, and "Bare Wires" in which the Blues Breakers were augmented by violin and saxes ( similar line up as the Dave Matthews Band, but nearly a half century earlier!)).
The old Blues Breaker album featuring Eric Clapton predates all three, and seems to be more familiar to most young people these days, but is not nearly as good. I liked some of Mayall's early 70's stuff,(especially "Empty Rooms)" but I never tire of "Road"," Crusade" and "Wires".
Here's a link to a great blues shuffle instrumental from "Bare Wires",
"Hartley Quits" featuring some excellent playin' by a very young Mick Taylor.
