So here I am once more
In the playground of the broken hearts
One more experience
One more entry
In a diary self-penned
Yet another emotional suicide
Overdosed on sentiment and pride

Nice Fish lyric. Here's my favourite from that track:

"So I'll hold my peace forever
When you wear your bridal gown
In the silence of my shame, the mute that sang the siren's song
I've gone solo in the game... but this game is over"

"Ouch - you're breaking my heart
Ouch - I'm falling apart
Ouch - ow ow ouch" - The Rutles (From "All You Need Is Cash")

"I have always thought in the back of my mind
Cheese & onions" - The Rutles (From "Yellow Submarine Sandwich")

"Hey diddle diddle
The cat's in the fiddle
With piggy in the middle
Foo foo fa foo" - The Rutles (From "The Tragical History Tour")

Musta been the post. I have that old movie & I love it dearly.

"Stickshifts & safety belts
Bucket seats have all got to go
Cuz when I'm driving
In my car it makes my baby seem so far.

"I need you here with me
Not way over in a bucket seat
I need you right here next to me
Not way over in a bucket seat

"Now when we're driving in my Malibu
It's easy to sit right next to you.
I say 'Baby, scoot over please,'
And then she's right there next to me...

"Now a lot of good cars are Japanese.
But when I'm driving far I need my baby
Need my baby next to me" - Cake (I love this tune!)

"Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe the sweat from your thighs" ("Three Boat Down from the Candy" - Marillion)

"Maybe it was infatuation or the thrill of the chase
Maybe you were always beyond my reach and my heart was playing safe
But was that love in your eyes I saw
Or the reflection of mine
I'll never really know for sure, you never really gave me time....
... welcome back to the circus" ("Cinderella Search" - the live version - Marillion)

Thanks for provoking the Fish inside of me, Sentient. Incidently (?), that last verse I would use in ZZ Top's "La Grange", and it also inspired a song I wrote called "Welcome to the Circus". ("I love those Big Top girls" - an ode to Russ Meyer).

good lyric i thought

all you know about me is what i sold you,
dumb fu*k
I sold out long before you ever even heard my name,
I sold my soul to make a record,
dip sh*t ,
and,
you,
bought,
one!

"Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a playground wall?
Do you remember dawn escapes from moon-washed college halls?
Do you remember the cherry blossoms in the market square?
Do you remember I thought it was confetti in our hair?" - (some great descriptions there - they had a great way with words) - Marillion

One of my all-time favorites -

"My birth place would be hard to find.
It changed so many times that I'm not sure where it belongs.
But they tell me the Baltic coast is full of amber
And the land was green before the tanks came.
One day I learned just how it used to be.
The devil's curse brought the whole world to its knees.

"And it was 'Hey you!
Keep your head down! Don't you look around!
Please don't make a sound.
If they should find you now the man will shoot you down.'

"It's a mighty long way
Out of the darkness to where the sun is free to shine.
Well the truck came by & put us in the back
And left us where the railroad tracks cross the line.
Then the border gang took us by the hand
And led us through the hole into the promised land beyond.
And I can hear 'em now, whisperin' soft & low,
'When you get to the other side just you run like hell!'

"I thought I'd found a quiet place
Where I could learn how to catch my childhood dreams.
But on my left & to my right they keep on shouting
While I'm just stuck here in between.
Lord I'm tired of runnin' & I don't believe I can.
I can hear them callin' time & time again.

"And it's 'Hey you! Keep your head down!
Don't you look around, Please don't make a sound.
If they should find you now the man will shoot you down." - the best song Steppenwolf ever recorded (thank you John Kay - it's about his escape from East Germany at the age of 12, around 1956, I read somewhere)

LOL!

Joseph, I can honestly say that Chuck Berry is one I'd never have thought to quote in this thread!

"Marie is only 6 years old.
Information, please,
Help me to get through to her in Memphis Tennessee" is MUCH better, imho...
