"I know it's easier to walk away than look it in the eye
but I had given all that I could take
and now I've only habits left to break" - "Surrounded" (Dream Theater)

"Nervous flashlights scan my dreams
Liquid shadows silence their screams
I smile at the moon chasing water from the sky
I argue with the clouds stealing beauty from my eyes" - "Under a Glass Moon" (Dream Theater)

"The Mama pajama rolled out of bed and she ran to the police station.
When the papa found out he began to shout and started the investigation.
It's against the law. It was against the law.
What the mama saw. It was against the law.

"Now the mama looks down & spit on the ground every time my name gets mentioned.
Papa said 'Oy! If I get that boy I'm gonna stick him in the house of detention!'
Well I'm on my way. I don't know where I'm goin'.
I'm on my way. I'm taking my time but I don't know where.
Good bye to Rosie, the queen of Corona.
See you, me and Julio down by the school yard." - Paul Simon

Do you know what this song is really about? Some school kids were caught by the girl's mother having oral sex in the school yard. The cops were called in about it. A "radical priest" got involved to save the boys from being put into juvie hall, and yes, they WERE on the cover of Newsweek. I always laugh at that line "the queen of corona."

" All the worlds indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each anothers audience
Outside the gilded cage "

"sh*t! Goddamn! Get off your ass & jam!" - Funkadelic

"Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the minds of the universe.
I was not offended, for I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own sh*t" - Funkadelic

HJ - funny story. When I was in Ohio, my friend's dad hired this funk band for the NCO club on some base out there. He described them to me the following day.

"They got up & said 'We won't say nuffin' 'bout your language if you don't say nuffin' 'bout ours.' Then they started this 'sh*t goddamn' stuff & I just had to leave!"

His son told me they were a really tight, great band. But there's something to be said about gauging your audience before you hit them with something completely inappropriate, isn't there? The audience was made up of mostly 40+ yr olds back in the '70's. This band shoulda known better!

Anyway, back on topic -

"Got a surprize especially for you.
Something that both of us have always wanted to do.
Waited so long. Waited so long...
I'm gonna take you on a trip so far from here.
I've got two tickets in my pocket. Now baby, we're gonna disappear.
Waited so long. Waited so long...
I've got two tickets to paradise." - Eddie Money

She knows she got everything
a woman needs to get a man, yeah.
How can she use, the things she use
36-24-36, what a winning hand!

Love this song. 8) :)

I love this imagery. It's a shame that so few have even heard of this guy, who's not only a good songwriter, but a master guitarist & pretty good performer, too!

"I saw you driving down the road.
I waved at you. You never slowed.
I watched you as the distance made you small and you were gone.
A haze of dust rose on the air,
Suspended for a moment there,
It settled to the road again. It didn't last too long...

"Time was all I had, but the timing was bad
When I looked your way, you neglected to stay.
You were going somewhere." - Buddy Mondlock, recorded by David Wilcox

"It's like you pass to me this bitter cup so I can take a sip,
And I know it's likely that it's gonna burn.
Nevermind the taste of it. I'll take what I can get.
Sure is a hard way to learn.

"I mean, look at how I sip your cup of nasty
Like I'm lucky for a taste to quench my thirst.
When love creates an optical illusion
I'm gonna see it just the way it was rehearsed...

"I liked everything about you, 'cept the way you treated me,
But that didn't seem to matter much at first.
I longed for you to fill me like a wino loves his drink
And every time you filled me with a thirst

"If I was dying in the desert I would see, shining on the sand,
True love like distant water on dry land." - David Wilcox

"If you want some real contentment, to live life at its best,
You can buy these dried tobacco leaves to breathe into your chest
And then look up at the billboard where all the promises come true for you.

"You'll feel alive with pleasure, playful as a child.
You've come to where the flavor is. You're cool and mild.
You'll laugh with every lungful as the change comes over you.

"So look up at the billboard. See her smiling sexy and tan.
But the only one who's laughin' is the advertising man." - David Wilcox
