Okay, I rented this porno once, & there was this scene with 3 women wearing nothing but cowboy hats & boots & holsters fulla sex toys. They were doing a strange scene in the desert, sorta...the only reason I remember it (apart from the obvious ones) was the music playing in the background. I kept the thing 3 extra days & had to pay a late fee, but it was worth it!

Oh yeah! The song? It was Echo & the Bunnymen covering "Ring Of Fire!"

Hey Joseph! Where ya been, man?

I had been playing Molly Hatchet's "Dreams I'll Never See" for years before I found out it was an Allman Brothers tune. I guess that means I liked it as a cover.

Argent first recorded "Liar". I believe a band called Brown Belt also did a cool version of it.

Yea there are covers that should never been heard on an album ie:
Sweet Child O' Mine Orig G "N" R
Cover: Sheryl Crow all I can say is WTF
Cover: Avril Lavine: Another WTF
By far the 2 worst covers in history

G "N" R didn't do so bad on Knockin on Heaven's Door it was their version and great guitar work by Slash and Izzy
Their Best cover however was deff Mama Kin it gave ita more punk feel really
Their worst cover by far Sympothy for the devil and Live and let die
J Cash did NIN Hurt because Rezonor begged him not because he just had the Idea to do a cover. He didn't need to
Social Distortion did a hell of a job with Ring of Fire
Want to see a kick ass version of Voodoo Child Check out Slash and Zack Wyldd on you tube
Although Slash playing on Velvet Revolvers cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here But Scot Weiland's voice really through it in the toilet
and Finally the worse cover of Knockin on Heavens Door and this is really gonna make the stuff hit the fan was Eric Claptons version trying to do it Marley Style. Sorry I love slowhand but leave the reggea to the master the late great Marley.

I think TOOLS version of Led Zeppelins No Quarter was done pretty well

Every Mothers Nightmare did a cover of Charlie Daniels' Long Haired Country Boy that was done well too

I have never heard a BAD cover as I feel ya need to personalize what ever it is you're doin' ... I figure if the cover is bad the original is just as bad so no harm no foul

JMO

Bad Covers... anything by Sid Vicious.... "My Way".... "(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone"....
That album (Sid Sings) was so bad it's almost comical.

Andragon wrote:Knockin' on Heaven's Door should have been left a folk song and that's that.

Simple Man is a great song. Both versions are excellent.
Hmmm... there are so many official covers that sucked. Most of the ones that were on the MetallicA tribute album sucked.

Three Days Grace covered Chris Isaak's Wicked Game in their own style, which I like. It was really good, imo.

Johnny Cash should stop ruining great songs like Hurt and Rusty Cage. Poor Soundgarden.

andy, Johnny Cash's version of hurt actually conveys the emotions of hurt, pain, regret, sorrow...what trent reznor did was write a song for the market that he knew would eat it up, have you seen where he came from? look it up on youtube, trent reznor in the 80's I wanna say, just another 80's dude who was playing with synth's and some how he made a career outta it.

as for Mariyln Manson covers, you have to like what he's doing in the first place, but if you didn't like the original genre of "Sweet Dreams" and you hear the cover you might like it, at least my grumpy dad did haha. What I really like is when a rock band (70's prog especially) takes a stab at some classical music, but that's not a cover, that's an interpretation so it's different

Sheryl Crow did a decent job on Cat Stevens' "The First Cut Is The Deepest," but then so did Rod Stewart...it's a hard song to screw up...
