Are there any bands/solos that came out since 1990 that you like?

I hear ppl gripin' all the time about how music has turned to crap. It's rare to hear anyone over 40 talk about how they like this or that new musical act.

Personally, I've been listening to some Jimmy's Chicken Shack, lately, & I think they are quite good.

I liked some of tha stuff that Nirvana did, too, but I don't think they were as ground-breaking or great as most ppl.

Other acts w/some good stuff - Carbon Leaf, Toni Childs, Train, Collective Soul, Dashboard Confessional, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Matthew Sweet, 3 Doors Down...

Even if it's only one song that's good, I'll appreciate it.

Gimme some stuff to look up & listen to that's new, melodic, & fulla heart.

Please?

Man I'll be 48 in august. I like many songs and artist these days. That includes many of the people you listed. but long gone are the day when I pay that much attention to who wrote or sung what. I could not name the guitarist or drummer for any band and whats more dont care. I listen on the radio or borrow my wifes CD's if I like it I'll sing along or play my air guitar, If I dont, or they say something stupid in the lyric that offends me I just turn it off.
I used to be really passionate about all that I knew who played what and who every musician was. But I just dont have time in my life for that these days and as I said I could care less.

Same here, now, pretty much . . . every so often I hear something really good, but I usually don't know who's playing it . . .
.
Anyway, the way I look at it; there are fans, and there are musicians . . .
I'm not a fan; I'm a musician . . .
. . .
I guess I stopped being a fan about the time I noticed that a lot of so-called 'artists' were re-using each other's musical phrases, and just changing the lyrics, tempo, or chorus . . . that's just bogus & mediocre, man . . .
I guess that's when I stopped listening, and started composing . . .
.
Once every 2 weeks or so I'll hear something on the radio which I think is interesting . . .

You need to check out Jerry Dowell at JERRYDOWELLBAND.com. I played with him a number of years ago, he's truly a gifted songwriter. Later...

Like it was yesterday. I'm glad they got rid of that stupid Captain Pike from the pilot episode. Even with Shatner's overacting, he was a hundred times better.

Boy...getting info from you folks is TOUGH!

a dozen responses & only the name of one act...tnx, Bob, I did look him up & he's pretty good .

So nobody likes nuffin, then? Or is it that you're ashamed to like 'em?

C'mon...Matchbox 20? Cake? John Legend? Evanescence? Alicia Keyes? Sarah Borallis? Anybody?

Is all the ppl over 40 just curmudgeonish or what?

(wanders off grumpin' about dem young whippersnappers ruinin' all the music & stuff...)
