If you can, post your favorite song by that drummer too.

That way, I can check out the songs and see what you're talking about. I'm a bass player, but I'm always looking for songs for my band to cover. Imagine a band covering the best metal drum lines ever. Each song in the set a showcase for a different band's drummer. That would be pretty bitchin'.

here are couple other names that haven't been mentioned George Kolias (nile) Johnny Bokeland (devil driver don't quote me on the spelling) and steve asheim (deicide) I'm sure you'll get a few good lines outta that though the bass isn't that dynamic (thats my instrument too) I honestly believe that any drummer that can stand out and have someone recognize their name and their work is damned good best is an opinion in music

You guys don't even know METAL!
NO PARTICULAR ORDER (here we go, time for youtube... I highly recommend checking these dudes out):

Gene Hoglan from the band DEATH
Richard Christy (yep that guy on Howard Stern) last drummer from DEATH
... both these guys come up with some of the most original sounding fills I have ever heard.

Nicholas (Nick) Barker, I know him from DIMMU BORGIR (mostly Death Cult Armageddon) but he has a huge list of bands he works with. Plus this guy is like 300lb. just watch him move, it's makes you wonder what he would do with 50lb off each limb.

Igor Cavalera from old SEPULTURA; nothing super special, but great like thunder for thrash.

Pete "the feet" Sandoval from MORBID ANGEL, this guy recorded their first death metal album after using double kick for only 1 month!

Zbigniew Promiński better known as INFERNO from the band BEHEMOTH; the vocals are harsh, live he likes to speed up, but I have heard he uses a metronome now.

best drummer in metal?

You know what? I would've put Dave Lombardo third on the list, but I was pretty lazy :D

Mike Portnoy (period) - if he's considered "metal"... or there's also Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Slavior)

Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan! Not technically the best, but has a great unique style.
Anyone who puts Lars Ulrich is either def or doesn't play drums.

Go back to your grindcore super black metal, kid.

Hahaha, I don't listen to grindcore or black metal. I dont really consider those music.
Lars Ulrich is one of the worst drummers out there. I wasn't saying that based on speed, I was basing that on control and creativity. He is incredibly sloppy and dull. Unbelieveably overrated.
