I don't know why, but something about how it just punches you and has that iconic sound, but my favorite will always be the solo from "Whole Lotta Love"

Cary Smith wrote:List some of your favorite guitar solos. It doesn't matter how flashy it is, just ones that always stood out to you for what ever reason.

Collective Soul - Heavy
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb...and so many more Floyd songs
Ram Jam - Black Betty

Dunno if it's already been said, but Eddie Hazel's solo on Maggot Brain is f**k otherworldly.

And also most of John Frusciante's solo stuff.

Legend - The Golden Bell - Kevin Nugent

Thirty years old, but I always loved that solo, those chords, and was privileged to be part of recording it.

Guitaranatomy wrote:"Eruption" had a great solo, the best part of it though is the tapping portions. I snagged a couple of those for my own stuff, lol.

Another favorite solo of mine would probably be "Sweet Child O'Mine" by Guns and Roses (GnR). Slash rocked out on that one, even though he hated the song I hear.

As far as classic rock goes, Jimmy Page's solo in "Dazed and Confused" was awesome.
I heard Slash say he had that guitar CUSTOM MADE and it was STOLEN
