Brain May and Frank Zappa never get a mention in these greatest guitar players of all time list and yet they are both amazing players
What all-time lists have you been looking at? haha
They're widely known and have had quite an influence on many guitarists.

After more thought I would have to say Alan Holdsworth. Sheer genius! Influenced people like Eddie Van Halen who in turn influenced a whole generation. Once I give most guitarists a listen I kind of "get" their playing and can almost predict where they're gonna go. Not Holdsworth. It's always compelling stuff.
Robin Trower and as mentioned Pat Travers

WIN!
Most definitely. Nobody I know, has even heard of him. And yet, he has that smooth blues/rock style that imo, distinguishes him from many blues guitarists. Good call, man

Jimmy,
Back around 68, all my neophyte rocker buddies who were blessed enough to possess at least one of the great Nazz albums were fully aware of the abilities of The Runt. I guess as the Hendrix/Clapton legend developed into the 70's, many great guitar gods were overshadowed.
When Todd drifted into his successful production career, he seemed to favor the then up and coming synthesizer tecnology. I personally would rather dust off the ol' Nazz vinyl and give Wildwood Blues a spin then any of his Utopia stuff, but I actually did have a soft spot for Leroy Boy.( It's sorta a perenial favorite that keeps cropping up on my live gig song lists, often to the chagrin of fellow bandmates )
Andy,
Seems to me that you HAVE been hangin' out with a few 40+ rockers on this forum at least.
later,
HJ
