Musician Forum - Band Discussion Board - BandMix

Hello guys,

I am studying computer science and I am thinking about to program a website where bands and musicians can register to receive offers for concerts, cafes and bars, weddings, partys and so on.

So the main idea is to create a database where customers can find the perfect band for his event.

What do you think about it? Would it help bands to find jobs? What features should it have?

not a new idea....these sites already exist. Gig Salad comes to mind.

There are worldwide sites, but the trick is to get people to register and use them. The music world is very volatile - bands come and go, venues come and go ... And of course no one wants to pay for the website usage, either. Gigsalad takes a set fee of the top of any gig booked through them, but also has a 'premium membership' available for a fee which puts you closer to the top of the list.
