Just curious if hiatt is as underrated as I think he is(as a songwriter).

Truly is sad that so few have heard him... great writer. I suppose he has more country appeal than anything (in his own recordings). Hiatt has written so many songs that became a hit for someone else... ppul like bonnie rait, eric clapton and bbking, jeff healy.
Too bad he doesn't get more recognition in my opinion...
I saw him perform with ry cooder at summerfest and it was impressive.

I guess mr hiatt is mine to appreciate alone!

this is a common problem with musicians they make good songs but some jerk thats higher up on the music scale swoops down and takes it and the only reason the song become popular after is because the other musician had more fans to begin with.

Heard of him? Absoloutely! A very very talented person. That's the problem, most truley gifted/talented people get overlooked. I think the population at large because of the steady stream of mediocre crap they have been fed can't comprehend true talent.

If I rant for a moment, we hear the record companies whining of losing money. Well maybe if they put out a product that was worth my hard earned money I would by it.

For the record John Hiatt has been on the Bob and Tom Show several times.

If memory serves he has been on 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years. They have had John Prine on too. Another total underated guy IMO.

I think the version of little head I have is from BANDT show if I'm not mistaken...
afa prine... not too familiar w him... I'll have to check him out.
I've been a huge hiatt fan ever since I saw him on conan obrian doing "cry love". started digging into his old albums and realized he wrote a ton of songs I like, and found many more new ones I love.
"You may allready be a winner"
"the jerk"
"seven little indians"
"the way we make a broken heart"
"paper thin"
"slug line?"
"radio girl"
-so so many more. truly one of the last great american songwriters IMO.

Man, John is just an incredible songwriter !!!!! It seems there are so many talented musicians out there that never get the exposure because ofthe "big labels".... just another reason "Indie" bands are doing so well!!!
