King Crimson, all marks. Each line up was unique, and they were different each time. Fripp can do anything on a guitar.

Prog rock giants, mostly (YES, ELP, Henry Cow, Porcupine Tree, :| etc.)

The bands that originally influenced me to play music (Nirvana, Melvins, Orange 9mm) are almost boring to me now. The music that inspires me today (August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage) is completely different, more complex. Music has come a long way from Verse Chorus Verse. But, without the influence of those powerchords and hard hitting drums in my "impressionable years" I wouldn't be rocking out today.

Easy...

I would have to say over-all my favorite would have to be the incomparable Michael Schenker ... He definitely spearheaded the neo-classical fusion style later popularized by Randy Rhoads & Yngwie Malmsteen . The thing I like about Schenker is that he has that European influence in his modal playing style along with the speed and awesome legato playing yet; he plays with all heart and emotion of the best pentatonic crazed bluesman!!![/img]

I am an electric person @ heart, so the biggest influence has to be Les Paul and Charlie Christian. Without whom there would be no need to ask.

To me, band wise it is Robert Fripp aka: King Crimson, because of all the doors he opened. Eno, Ardian Belew, then Frank, Bozzio and on and on.

Good call. Don't forget Fripp's work with Bowie, Peter Gabriel, etc.
