Posted: Sun Sep 14, 2008 3:56 pmUmmm....tough to single out a single musician. But since you asked, I'd have to say Randy Rhodes influenced me more than any other. I remember as a kid being blown away by his versitile playing style. Then later, discovering how humble he was off stage impressed me even more! When he died I recall feeling as if I'd lost a close friend...although I had never met him.
As far as groups, well, in 6th grade I went from listening to the Osmonds to KISS (much to my parents dispair). ....altho....Mom did admit she liked the tune Love Gun
And no, I never told her what that song was about... 
That woulda just ruined it for her; and in all likelyhood, ruined any chances I had for buying future KISS albums.
That one group turned me onto rock n roll opening a whole new world to me.

Bowie, too, although sometimes I don't think I take the right drugs to understand some of his lyrics. And, of course, what songwriter's list of influences would be complete without the Lennon\Macca combo?
