At least one person has asked me how I classify my music (asking about my first CD). I hate trying to call it any one thing. Some of my music is acoustic rock/pop. Some is electric with a a 'classic rock' feel. Some is similar to new alt stuff.
What do I keep in mind when playing any music? If it's mine, make it mine. If its cover songs, make it sound like the original AND make it mine.

Deathcore. Its got the right amount of emotion, its always in your face, the breakdowns create amazing groove, and its the best music to mosh to.

I play anything really.

I can even sit down for hours and play nothing but scales runs and arpeggios (yeah i know boring....)

What's most important to me is you FEEL GOOD doing it.

ROCK ON!

John

I play alternative rock, and Christian contemporary music. Aspects? Well when playing any genre, I tend not to play songs showing rudeness or swearing in lyrics.

We call it GODROCK . . .

It would vary musically from song to song anywhere from folk / country, bebop, to heavy rock.

With five members of various age and background all contributing to the song book as a whole, as well as flavoring every song with our own personal style.
How could it be otherwise ?

The term was coined, I believe by our former front man Ray Jackson.
We are a rock band in that we all enjoy that particular "style" of music.
Being as we grew up listening to rock ( classic rock from the 60's & 70's for myself ) it was only natural that when we formed our mission band to perform praise and worship, that we would utilize the "sound" we identify with to do so.

How is that different from the usual Christian rock?

Other than it's our original music ?
I suppose there is no essential difference as far as lumping music into "genre" is concerned.
You know how people ( especially non musicians ) want to ask you who you sound like ? I prefer to say we sound like us. We really just put the songs together in co operation with each other. We have no "target" sound as far as trying to emulate any particular artist or style.
So I figure it's more for "personal identification" than a "genre" or sub category.

The Grateful Dead band is a " jam Band " and what I keep in mind for that is purity/authenticity ... by the book
With the Psychedelic Hard Rock original band I try to be myself within the rules/format/template as much as they will allow
Gotta have fun or its just a waste of time

:)

I tend to lean toward folk rock and acoustic music but I end up always playing classic rock and blues when I play in a band. I think the most important thing is how you feel physically and mentally. You need to be relaxed and not tense when playing music.
