With the obvious exception of Judas Priest, who have already proven themselves to be Metal Gods, which Heavy Metal bands do you think are worthy of this emaculate title?

You know ... that's so hard to qualify.

The term " Heavy Metal " does not even mean the same thing as it did 10 years ago.

That is true, but I feel that bands that can be considered Metal Gods should have some seniority as opposed to bands like Avenged Sevenfold or Disturbed.

Though I have never thought of KISS, ALICE COOPER, or AC/DC to be "metal" bands, I would have to move two of these to the top of your list.

Never having been all that enamored with AC/DC despite their huge popularity, KISS and ALICE COOPER have been at the apex of the stadium rock era. And they continue to play to sold out crowds around the world.

That's true. Still, I consider them to be pioneers in Hard Rock / Theatrics without sacrificing musical ability like Venom did.

I Voted for Alice Cooper... After all, he's the grand daddy of Punk and metal...

i voted for black sabbeth, they're one of the most recognized metal bands of all time and the pioneers that started the genre. my second would've been metallica. easily associated with metal just by saying they're name. ha

I'm with you Toxic, Sabbath IS metal to me but I'm old. Priest is definitely worthy, also The Scorpions. We gonna sting ya!

Of the newer bands I would say Rammstein, going to see them in May, kickass!
