The Band :)
As far as progressive goes, they are still amazing.
If I had to name my top three prog bands It would be

1 Dream Theater
2 Pink Floyd
3 Kansas (although its very close)

Steve miller band has also got some pretty prog rock sounding stuff too.
Ive been tracking my Prog roots for a while now, and I gotta say.
Carry on my Wayward Son, and Dust in the Wind have got to be perfects songs. This is all just my opinion though.

How many Prog rockers we got here?

I've been a fan of Kansas since I was a kid. Releases like; Leftoverture, Point of Know Return and Monplith, are true classic...no doubt.

How about; UK...Those guys rocked.

A few. Certainly my favorite genre. Kansas hits my hometown October 9th; gonna have to go see 'em.

My top prog bands:

1. Dream Theater
2. Enchant
3. Rush.

I don't really consider Pink Floyd as "prog". I know a lot of people do, but to me they're much more psychedelic/blues rock.

Guitar players who are prog fans owe it to themselves to check out Enchant. They've put out seven albums and a live DVD. Doug Ott is brilliant and draws really strong influence from Neil Schon (Journey) for his leads. Ott is probably my favorite lead player, all time. I just love his work.

Prog has given us so many great bands through the years...Such as;

Yes
ELP
Genesis
Marillion
Supertramp
Pink Floyd
The Moody Blues
Jethro Tull
Rush
Atomic Rooster
King Crimson
UK
Kansas
Styx
Boston
Journey
Dream Theater
Fates Warning
Queensryche
Crimson Glory
Heir Apparent
Leviathan
Watchtower
Vanden Plas
Symphony X
Labyrinth
Shadow Gallery

The list goes on and on. Obviously, some of these bands have taken different paths through and with their prog traditions/leanings, while holding onto some elements of it.

Basically progressive rock is the reason punk rock was born. If your local punker would hate it then it's probably progressive rock.

My favorite Prog rockers:

King Crimson
Jethro Tull
ELP
Yes
UK
Roxy Music
Genesis
Peter Gabriel
David Bowie
The Strawbs
The Moody Blues
Blue Oyster Cult
Uriah Heep
