Is there a band or performer that you are really into, but kind of embarrassed to tell anyone? Or maybe it's just someone that you consider to have a lot of influence upon you, although that might not be immediately obvious to anyone...

Y'know, like some of you metal guys being enormous AIR SUPPLY fans?

Yeah. There's something about Chris Isaac's voice that tears me up. He's got such a good throw-back style, too.

Judy Garland

First time I remember seeing someone with a powerful clear voice. Somewhere Over the Rainbow such emotion.

I used to be embarrassed about liking Barbara Streisand. Then she had a comeback and achieved greater recognition than the first time. And I used to be embarrassed about liking Bonnie Raitt, and she had a comback - same thing. So I'm not embarrassed any more about liking who I like, and neither should you be. If you find you can't help but like an artist, there's probably a pretty good reason - even if other people don't seem to think so yet.

I think this was a setup. Notice Joseph has posted nothing. Yep, now I feel a little akward.

Yeah, I figured I'd let y'all swing in the wind for a while...

I was a HUGE Duran Duran fan for years, not so much as a musical influence (although I think there is merit to it) but more for the image...years down the road I realized that they shared an audience with New Kids on the Block (pre-teen to Early twenties females). I have a feeling I would have felt really out of place at that show...

Huge fan of Arena Rock (or "corporate rock", depending on which side of the fence you stand on), with Styx at the forefront. "Mr. Roboto" was an interesting concept to me (Most people seem to dismiss it as "what were they thinking?").

And, yeah, Air Supply. And Chicago. I'm still searching for that long lost album that Chicago finally released this year.

I also really get excited to hear something from the '80's hair bands (Night Ranger, Warrant). I hear SOME really good songs in there, again stuff that most people seem to have accept as having their day in the sun and being kind of goofy now.

I'm sure there are a bunch more, and I'll throw thwm on here as I remember...

It's embarrasing enough being a Christian rocker who when he gets carried away has a tendency to do the Gene Simons tongue thing.
I attempted to lick the overhead christmas lights at one of our first shows untill I heard someone say "what is HE doing!"
Chicago was awsome. Was as classical music album one of my elder sisters had. Was Bach Motzat and the like performed at an up tempo by rock musicians. That was also awsome.
And who could forget "HAIR" the rock opera.

I knew it would come to me. I was sitting at dinner tonight and the song came on...

"Nothing's gonna stop us now".

Starship.

Love 'em. Can't help it. Great vocals, good musicianship, CHEEZ out the Wazoo...and I don't care.

I'm going to go pop in my CD and sing along with "We Built This City"...right now.

("...Knee deep in the hoopla...")

I think I'm with you on what you like. I'm a person that likes upbeat groups/songs, hell there is enough downer stuff in life. I dont need to hear a bunch of freakin whining in music. I like music that brings me up.
