I think you'd find that a tad hard. She was my best friend and she's gone. All Mums are special but thanks anyway.
Will you err the child onto Musical things?

I'd be careful with that.. if you try to push it on the kid, even if it's just perceived as such, the kid will run from music like a cat from water...

My InsideOut Cat would have issues with that. However I think you are totally right. Skill is a Skill though innit?

Not pushing it on him or her...just giving him or her the opportunity to discover it for themselves....this kid comes from a musical family...there's bound to be a musical gene embedded somewhere in his/her genetic makeup....

That's way cool, Debs. I've been my grandson's babysitter now for a cpl months - wow! It's quite a job keeping him occupied & outta stuff, but I've been managing...in fact, the one lady that's been helping with his motor skills & language development told me this morning that she thinks I've been doing a great job. (Eh...what does she know, anyway? I DO sorta think I'm handling his "terrible two's" pretty goodly for an old fart, though!)
I took him to see my friend's llamas the other day, & boy was he impressed! (He wouldn't give up his carrot for them, though.) Today we went to the park & the dollar store where I got him some new toys. I'm having the time of my life, here! And nobody looks at me weirdly when I act like I'm two, too! heh heh heh
He's getting his operation on the 2nd, & we're hoping & praying that it solves his troubles with speach & eyes & balance & fine motor stuff. Friday we get to drive 6 hours & see 2 doctors - the eye doc & the surgeon, for last minute check-ups & such.
If this does solve his talking problems, I fear I'm in for a world of hurt, cuz he's made it quite obvious that he has a LOT to say, but just can't get it out yet. He's developed a rather large vocabulary with his sign language, & of course I had to make up some of my own for him, cuz the experts don't cover such things as gummi bears or shoulder rides.
He's been helping me musically, though. I play for him a bunch, lately. Loves the music, he does.
Yep - grandparenthood's the bestest! I get to crawl & slide & swing & screech & do all that stuff I gave up when I turned 5 or 6. I'll bet you're gonna love it!

My Brother and Sister would disagree. Neither use a computer and neither would pick up a git box but for a laugh.
Do what you do well. Let others decide. It's the way, just how it is.
Best.
Chippy.

Hey thats great news Debbie. One thing about grand kids is you get to spoil the heck out of them and then give them back, also when they grow up to be teenagers and get in trouble you get to laugh at their parents and say you remember when you used to do that to me. And then say well.... this is pay back BWA! HA!HA!
Just kidding of coarse, in all seriousness I agree with Kramar. I have seen it. There are several families from down here in Pasa Get Down Dena (Pasadena,Texas) you know... where Gilley's used to be. That are around the same age as me. Well in my day LOL. In the days of The Jackson 5, The Osmonds, Partridge Family, these local family's pushed their kids to learn an instrument when they got home from school they couldn't come out to play untill they practiced their instrument and did their homework well for a good portion of the year it was dark before they were done. They turned out to be fabulous musicians but man you talk about attitude. I have played with some of them over the years and a few are okay out of 10 from these two family's. If you can get past the attitude Geez! your doing alright!
