Along with a mish-mash of other yada yada "diverse" sh*t including Saucerful era Floyd, Moody Blues, Springsteen, LA glam ala Missing Persons, RATT, Maiden sans Bruce, Sabbath and other metal genres, thrash, stoner, Blind Guardian, Chic, Japan, Kate Bush and blah.

Intolerant of most cliched metal nonsense and overhyped sh*t like Zep and Beatles though I listened to plenty of that. But the main bands are in the title. You're either with or against them and me.

Can someone tell me what this is about, I don't have a clue. :?:

This is my band idea, looking for potential recruits. I could have said 'my' idea in the title but space was insufficient.

You know of course that as soon as everyone looks at a thread like this they will check you out?

Finding the right people is like a DATING AGENCY. Treat it like one, it will do you well.

Cheers.

Chipfryer.

Well yes, that's what I was hoping to do, get interested people in, if they exist.

Definitely some cool references there, expecially the Roxy Music, Missing Persons, Floyd, Japan and Kate Bush. Being from Scotland, were you a Big Country fan? They were my favorite band for a long time, especially Steeltown, The Crossing and The Seer. My ancestors were from Scotland and Ireland so BC was a natural love at first hearing for me.

Hmm, never really heard them. I'm not Scottish myself though.

Oh Lord.

Dude if you haven't got anything posted folks cannot tell where you are coming from, even more what style you play.

I really liked the comment Woot :D
Now that was class.

The Idea? Dunno? I saw a Car with "Grout Medic" on it today. I thought 'WHAT A FAB IDEA'. They are selling tile renovations to older people I suspect but what a fabulous name.

What I am getting at is this. What you have posted could be taken a million ways. Try re-wording it and post some samples of music that you have played. It will go a long, long way. Trust me.

I wouldn't call myself a musician based on my standard of playing so far. Therefore no samples.

What I'm looking for is the right sort of people which based on the bands I've listed is a rare, rare species. I'm not looking for great musicians, but people who understand what the idea is instantly, going by the bands listed in the title. Everything else comes later. There's a million people trading samples and posting mp3s on myspace but we know they're going nowhere mostly. I'm just looking for like minded people, first. I'm not interested in run of the mill rock n' roll with some display of chops, that's everywhere... someone who's outshreded Vai, been more "complex" than prog, mixed metal with reggae.

But chemistry is everything... Duran and Halen are two very important bands in my musical view.

After posting a list of bands rarely mentioned around here I had hopes for you. But then after ranting that you don't want to do cliche material you go and say that Duran Duran and Van Halen were musically the two most important to you? I will list your influences in order of importance to me:

Pink Floyd
Roxy Music
Kate Bush
Moody Blues
Black Sabbath
Missing Persons
Bruce Springsteen
a-Ha
Japan
Duran Duran
Van Halen
Iron Maiden
Ratt

Not sure who Blind Guardian is so I can't list 'em. Best of luck in your quest.

Moo thats a really wide range of inluences or very different styles of music. It sounds like you arent much of a musician, but just have the idea of being one. To cover the different styles you list is going to take some monster musicians.

I wish you luck but it looks like a shotgun approach. You might want to narrow it down a little so you can get something started that is workable.

Just my 2 cents. Most folks into Sabbath and Maiden are not going to care much for Duran Duran and Kate Bush.

Good point John, although I am one of those rare people that actually own music from all on the list. Some are just more important, hence the ordering. But it is difficult to be eclectic and start a band; that's why most people would only list the Sabbath, Maiden, Van Halen and Ratt influences if they wanted to start a metal band, or the Kate Bush, Missing Persons and Japan inluences if they wanted to start an alternative band, etc.
