QUESTION ABOUT EQUIPMENT

Hey, Everybody!

I drove to Clearwater, Florida yesterday to look at electric accordions that include canned rhythm, bass, and drums, so I can be a "one man band."

The prices seem kinda high.

Anyone ever heard of a Ketron XD3 or a Ketron XD9?

Are these good items? How much should they cost brand new?
How much used and where to get 'em?

Thanks!
Chachaangelina

Nope I know nothing about accordians but I do know some people who are 1 man bands and they just use software to play along with. They build their music and play certain instruments along with the builds or sing along to get their sounds. Some people also use synth keyboard workstations because they have record ability and drums, bass, strings, and tone sections. A lot also feature arpeggiated sounds on 1.4, 1/8, 1/16 scales and more...so the keyboards can do the work for you. My workstation does not have the arp feature but does everything else.

Thanks, Chemical!

Does anyone know anything about the
Ketron XD3 or a Ketron XD9? (which performs as Chemical described)
I have an appointment tomorrow to see about buying one of these.
How much do they generally run new and used? Is it a good brand?
Anyone?

I think I would rather have a Korg workstation...or the Korg Triton...or a Roland Vsynth machine...for as much as you would be paying for that. www.samash.com

Did you buy anything, Angelina? I am excited to hear about your purchase. I act like a kid with his first nintendo everytime I buy a new instrument. ;)

Purchase is a done deal!

HI, Chemical and All!
Thank you for your interest and your input!
YES! I did buy the Ketron keyboard for several reasons:
(1) the beats and rhythms sound more European, since the keyboard is made in Italy.
(2) The polka beats and accordion sounds are more numerous, and since I'm the Polka Queen and the Cha Cha Queen, it makes more sense that this is a priority to me.
(3) The owner of this store has a good repairman. I assume he is more interested in servicing equipment that was purchased from his store.
(4) The salesman, Pat, wrote on the receipt that if I ever come back to the store, located in Clearwater, I get priority treatment. Pat is willing to walk me through all the features and help me to customize the various sounds.
(5) When I visited the store for the second time, they did their best to please me. The owner even cleaned all the dead love bugs off the front of my car and my windshield.
(6) I like Pat, the saleman! He makes me laugh, he's sincere, he plays the accordion well, he's easy-going, accommodating, and funny! He'd make a great song and dance man, if I needed one.
Well, Chemical, I hope I did the right thing.

By the way, remember I was telling you about a guy from Youngstown who was coming down in January to be my video editor? Well, our mutual friend just called me a couple of days ago. Denny, 19 years old, died instantly in a car crash a few days ago, along with all members of the other vehicle. I was really quite shocked. My heart bleeds for his family and especially for his fiancee.

The good news is that my boyfriend is back and he really, realy is trying. He's actually in the other room right now with a female video editor who has come over to check out the project. I met her from a dance group here in town. So, between him and her, maybe we'll get this show on the road.

I do hope you keep in touch, also, since you expressed interest in the video editing. There's also another guy who has expressed interest and I'll have to contact him very soon.

I have a wild and crazy show scheduled for Halloween. Wish you were here to see it! Cha Cha Angelina

Thanks. The new video editor will be here tomorrow! I hope this one really works out! He sounds good and has produced his own anti-war films. Right now, he's working three part-time jobs but would like to have a full-time video editing gig, or so he says. We'll see.
