I am a 65 year old, white American male, born, raised in Kentucky. That being said,... In my lifetime, I have gone from an "honest" average American caucasion, to a minority. I am now in the ranks, of a dyin' breed !
I feel like a man stranded on an Island, with only my; honesty, courtesy, respect for other people, and the fortitude to do what I say, I will do, when I say, I will do it.
MOST musicians, I have dealt with in recent years, seem to be extremely self centered, and dishonest.
A few years ago, I was talking to an older gentleman (at the time, older than me) who owned a music store. I made the statement... it seems as though eighty per cent of musicians these days, are ass holes. He said, OH! the percentage is higher than that.

Eh...I'm just a few years behind ya, at 54. I've noticed that, in my time, this really hasn't gotten any worse or better. Ppl have often flocked to be called "musicians," I think, because we "play," rather than "work" our instruments. This unfortunate description draws a lot of undesireables to our field, mostly lazy, tactless, self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing types who don't want to do the necessary work to perfect their craft, yet still wish to get the kudos as if they HAD done the work. It also draws the drunks, the druggies, & of course the less than honest types, as well.

While there are more musicians in the world than ever before, I'd bet the percentage of wannabes & hacks & outright liars remains the same.

I'm sorry if you feel like you've attained minority status, but I doubt very much that your race has anything to do with it. It's more likely your age - you have officially reached "curmudgeonhood!" Enjoy it while you may, cuz incontinence will surely follow if you don't eat your fiber & do your keggle exercizes.

I am 15 years behind you Groove-in and I feel exactly as you do. It seems very hard to find people that will do what they say they are going to do when they say they are going to do it. I think all this boils down to agenda. Everyone has an agenda and sometimes they change them that can be frustrating to people that like some sort of structure in their lives.
The world is a changing and I am not so sure I like where it is headed.

Sounds like the making of a decent song or movie to me. The point isnt only put on musicians, its on a whole generation of young guns who dont care about anything but their own. It has gotten worse and I beleive wont get any better soon. So I guess that makes me a old curmudgeon too, but at least I sleep well at night knowing I did my very best that and every day I wake up.

I quit worrying about those that cant make the world what they want. Im too busy making my world a better place for me and mine.

And its another day in Paradise !!!

I'm a youngster of 53 ..lol.. and I guess I know now why I gave up going out and trying to find another band.. beside the fact that I live at least 45 minutes from the nearest musician that I know of.. sigh.., ah well..

Damn Bro, I feel ya! if we were closer we would be a good team of artist's I do believe. I don't sweat the age thing too much. a bit but not too much. I figure if I feel it and convey that feeling... who cares about the age.
You might be surprised at the average age of my fans; even though they run the gamut of generation's, my best estimate would be 22. they run from 15 to 67.
So IMO age is only a boundary if you allow it to be!

as for the shitbag's in the art of music... yeah, it's the same ole same ole. we always had rockstar's and lowdown's.

I am 52 years young. Hopefully some rich corporate person can get us together for one jam night. Yeah, I will be playin' with y'all. I only work with musicians who are
personable and fun to be with. Their talent is an asset not a status symbol.

Groove-in, I think that the guys here are of straight-up great musicians. The musicians I play with remind me of the guys on Bandmix. ZXYZ, sorry for your loss.

Seems like good parenting is a big key as opposed to race, region, and so on. Having a mind, an open one at that, doesn't hurt either.

It's a good thing you disgusted it with us  As someone mentioned earlier...it's in all aspects of life. I hope, at least in the musicworld, you meat more of the raised rights
