Hey everyone. My name's Chris and I live just outside of Memphis, TN. I've been singing in churches and bands for about 15yrs. I was with a great group of guys a couple years ago and let life get in the way of our music making and now I regret it and am looking to get back on the horse. Just dropping in to say howdy.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. If you want to check out one of my solo recordings I just posted it on my profile. Click on my profle pic on the forum and it will take you right to it so you can give it a listen.
Tell me what you think... be brutally honest. I need that right about now. It hard to get honest feedback from people you know.

Lets see, I cant really find anything wrong with this song. Its recorded well everything is in balance. But nothing really just grabbed me. I noticed you play with Drag The Waters which Im assuming is a heavy band. After reading that I half expected for some growling vocals, you know somehting to reach out and grab me. I dont know if a heavy section would be appropriate for a song like this, but as I listened I was expecting more for some reason and it just never took off.
But not to be negative nice work, nice song, nice vocals.

Thanks jw... the band is quite a bit heavier than my solo stuff. Not metal by any means and I don't do the screaming thing. I guess we're more hard rock.
As soon as we get in the studio I'll post up some of our work.
My acoustic stuff is just me mellowing out and getting some stuff off my chest.

Come on guys... surely there are more that can either pick me up or knock me down a notch.
What say you Band Mix?

Doubling your own vocals is so cool, ain't it? I LOVE doing that.
Reminds me of a lot of modern stuff, cuz there's not a really strong melody...it just wanders with the chords.
I like the lyrics, but you coulda made this a lot more melodic, even with this chord progression. I was hoping for a strong bridge, but, in the spirit of modern stuff, it wasn't there.
This song's perfectly okay, for what it is, but like JW says, it doesn't really grab me. It just kinda flows along without any real personality input from you, the singer. You took what could have been an A side, & made it a B side, imho.

Thank you so much philby!
My producer told me the same thing about the bridge. I'm so use to working with the band that I never really started taking time to "structure" the songs I've been messing with. I've only been seriously playing and singing for about 6 months now and I suck at strumming while I sing. lol
Not making excuses for the sub par performance. Just looking for some... coaching I guess. You guys know as well as I do that people you know and people you pay will tell you anything to make you feel better.
I'll post up more as I get them. I'm really trying to get to the point where all my acoustic stuff doesn't come out all sounding the same.
