I wonder what Satch, Sammy and Michael Anthony will come up with? I'm thinking a Sammy-period VH sound?

Just saw them on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Sammy Hagar's never been my favorite rock singer. Sounds like he's straining too much. Wasn't really impressed with the song they performed...

I always thought Hagar sounded like someone had his danglies in a vise.

May be another one of those cases where a room full of talented musicians does not equil a band.
Entertainment is a tough business but also very forgiving to those whom have created (or born with) name recognition.

Ah I heard a little of what they're playing..
Just get rid of Haggar and it'd be golden.
You want to talk on Buckethead? Oooh, I hope not.. He'd play most of us into the ground, I hate to admit.

I guess we just have different taste in music I love Van Halen, Van Hagar, Sammy Hagar. I saw Sammy Hagar back in 1978. At the concert it was Sammy Hagar, Pat Travers, and the Scorpians. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Sammy Hagar kicked arse. It was back when he had Plain Jane, and Fire. Pat Travers had just came out with Boom Boom Out Go The Lights. The Scorps had the song No One Like You.

I saw Hagar open for AC/DC in the late 70s. He was doing Trans Am, Red osme of those songs, and of course he pulled out Bad Motor Scooter. He was great. I like his vocals.

I liked '3 lock box' but his vocals always sounded hollow to me.. lack of substance imho..

Here's a Sammy clip from 1974. I thought his singing was aces back then.

Gotta admit he's good, but it's the same like a guitarist who shreds and solos all the time... oh wait...
Anyways, not a big fan of the supergroup. I like them individually.

Really guys.... I can dig the "I'm not keen on his voice" thing... but Sammy is the real deal and at a level that all of us in here wish we could be at... I just have to laugh when people get silly about stuff..
Everyone has their own taste in music, thats cool and healthy, but bumping up against knocking someone who IS excellent at what they do is really, well rediculas...
I never liked the Van Hagar stuff as well as the original.. just liked the music with Roth better.... but Sammy is the better musician by far... as old as he is, still belting, still in good shape... yeah.. he has earned his respect.
The new Chicken Foot is kind of a take it or leave it, it won't appeal to everyone for sure. But I wish I could be in his shoes for a little while... what a blast that would be!
X!
