Opium*/MOE

It seems as if what we have been covering is not "contemporary" enough for a few of us. (wink)

Long story short is that we keep getting requests for a tune that I don't seem to find much on, namely OPIUM by Moe. I was told that we almost covered it at one point while we were jamming. (news to me)

We have a few versions thus far and it would appear that we are stalemated on how to do it, thus I am asking for a little clarification.

Anyone familiar with this tune?

It's incomplete, but the majority is there.

We're arguing about the bass part as opposed to the main rhythm riff etc.

I found a few incomplete mentions including a bass tab, but haven't had any real time to go over it. The solo is not really an issue, but the rest is.

Maybe someone has a little tab or a little time to look at it.
The more we try to play it, the more I think it is starting to sound like something else I am confusing this with.

Opium Bass Tabs
Transcribed By John Haas

G ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D -------3-----------------3-------------------3-------------------3--------------|
A--03-5--53------------03-5--53------------03-5--53------------03-5--53-----------|
E3-----------3----113------------3----113------------3----113------------3----113--|

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated...

Seems to flow better for me to play the open D string instead of the A string 5th fret. But what do I know...I'm a lead guitarist. :)

G -------------------------------------------------|
D ----030-----------------030--------------------|
A 03-----3------------03------3-----------------|
E------------3---113-------------3----113-------|

Then the chorus goes:

G-------------------------------------------------l
D-------------------------------------------------l
A------3----------------3-------------------------l
E 321--3----3210--1---3------------------------l

Yeah it's all chopped up..

Funny thing about MOE, they jam and never seem to stop one tune to start another. (they do the big segue thing) lol

Ok, playing with the bass part and discussing it.

Seems ok..he says either way it's do able.

What's your take on the chord progression/rhythm guitar part, RAT?

They claim I am playing it an octave too high and I don't know, it sounds like another tune or 3 to me.. (What's the diff, an octave up or an octave down? not like it's original for us)

(yeah I know it's a 2 guitar part)(the slide part is the easiest part of it)(where's my beer bottle)

I just need to bang out a decent chordie and it's on like Donkey Kong.
(not like this one does any strange changes as far as key goes)

You ever hit the wall when you transpose? Sometimes I feel like my ear is 2 1/2 steps flat and playing YOUNG LUST/PF no matter what I am trying to transpose.

a better copy>? utube isn't the most forthcoming of late, but I think this is recorded a little better..

Addendum:

chorus s/b -

(G-F#-F) F-C-G
E-F-C-G 2x

Sometimes my ear is tin, but I know the correct arrangement when I hear it.

Still beating it out into a 3 piece arrangement + keys, more as we concur.

Any slide aficionados out there?

Getting static as I don't play the slide part to the note (LOL)(erm)

Thanks for any and all help so far..
