What's the worst shock you ever got on stage>?

And don't say your GF/band/mother/father/family left you after they heard you play.

I mean, have you ever gotten an electric shock while trying to play?????!!!!!

I just got one earlier and my arm is still tingling like a mofo..

Guess I should have noticed that pool of water in the BAT CAVE aka the basement.. lol

If you have a good story/joke about something shocking, I'd like to hear that too as I need something to distract me from the little burn I got as well.

Beat me, shoot me, whip me, but do not burn me.. It hurts more than your average physical incident..and on your fingers/hand.. well we know how that can affect what you play.

Oh man! Back in the '70's, I thought I'd blistered my lip from an ungrounded amp when I got too close to the mic. OUCH! Hell, the mere MEMORY still brings tears to my eyes. That one really did scare me, & it took a long time before I ever got close to a mic again.

Worst I ever got was back in my garage band days. Used to play barefoot a lot then. Played an outdoor gig on a concrete slab and was all barefoot and everything, picked up my guitar and reached back to turn my amp on. It was an old Fender with the metal toggle switches. Well, as soon as I flipped it on, ZZZZTTTTT! My feet still twitch when I think about it.

LOL We got a guy who wants to use the mic..

Hmm, I wonder if I could recreate that.. He'd change his mind in a hurry..

The worst I've gotten is a little static pop, over and over again.

Ok ok, so I wasnt playing. But I did get knocked down and out by a 440 volt three phase pumping unit panel once.
I test ALL electrical stuff with the back of my hand first.
It can save your life!!

I somehow got a nasty shock from my mic(back in the 80's) and it split my top lip! ... Guess they never heard of grounding...

I've been shocked accidentally before by working on amps. And I've had the mic shocks before. But my guitars are wired with a safety feature that will keep me from being seriously shocked through the strings. I can't find the feature online at the moment, but later I can post a pic of it from the book I got it from.

Sorry to hear that man, but at least you're still alive. Some people get it to the point to where they can't let go of the guitar.

Tip for the day. If you have a bad grounding problem and can't get rid of the mic shock by reversing the ground, take one of the unused jacks on your amp (one that won't be affected by having something plugged in), plug a cable into it (doesn't matter if it's instrument or speaker cable) and plug the other end into an unused jack on the PA. Automatically grounds your guitar and mic together.

I guess we all have experienced the shock treatment at one point, tell tale sign is if your guitar buzzes in the clean channel chances are you'll become the ground when touching the strings.
I never got a big shock but I do remember at this one gig between songs the PA system picked up the local news, people liked it they thought we were about to do a Pink Floyd tune.

I've had some small shocks years ago. Haven't had any major shocks in a long time. In the early eighties I saw Bill Blue step up to the microphone on the first song of the night and get shocked. If looks could kill I would say his roadies are long in their graves...

Drummers don't have that problem!

Well, maybe some do, but I never have. I've got a wireless headset (hate it) and the trusty SM-58.

What I did was take the bottom base off the boom stand, and replace it with the double-braced tripod bottom from a cymbal stand. That way, it's rock solid, blends in with the other stands, and has rubber feet at the bottom.

Amen, all hail the SM-58..

I don't even bother with other mics..when this one does such the lovely job..

A friend of mine was clearing out some studio items, and I had my choice of one of the 58's or an AKG for the same price. It's brand new, only thing missing was the zipper bag. whoopie!

I love the sound quality and the durability of the Shure. It's bullet proof!

50$? Was he hard up for cash?

Does he have anymore for 50$.. (water-water-give me life bringing water and a real mic that doesn't pop and hiss, water, water..) lol
