Community - & a LONG strange trip

Forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but I'll get to a new point shortly.
1 week ago today, my lab & one of my pugs took off for adventure. The next night, Friday, the lab was hit & killed by a car on the highway about 4 miles from home. Ppl saw the pug, but he was quite shaken & ran from everyone.
We started looking for them immediately, with no luck. I figured that someone had seen the pug, & since they're such a popular breed, took him in & gave him a new home, so I wouldn't see him again.
My wife had other ideas, & began putting up posters & flyers all over the place.
We started getting calls of sightings a cpl days ago. The pug was seen about 7 miles from home just around 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
We both took the morning off to search in the areas we was seen, but with no luck, other than to track his trip up to yesterday. He'd evidently run about 10-12 miles since last Friday, but in the wrong direction from home.
I went to my STICKMASTERS meeting last night, expecting to never see the little guy again. The meetings take place about 8 or 9 miles from where Jack was last seen, at Dddonnie's house. Sue & I took a break from the search to get lunch, &...you guessed it....Dddonnie called & said Jack was at his house.
Jack had made quite a circular path around our house, running, in all, probably 20-25 miles in the last week.
Everyone I talked to in this community was concerned, & some ppl just either got in their cars & looked for him, or even went out on foot, looking. Somewhere Jack had been fed, cuz he hasn't lost an ounce, & looks quite healthy, overall.
This has been a wonderful lesson about my community, though. Ppl care, & try whenever they can to help another in need. Makes me heart all tingly & sh*t.
Sorry if I seem a bit maudlin, but this was an experience I just had to share...& I'm SO glad to have this lil bastard back home!
