Well, looks like I'm up for another road trip, my sister came in this past weekend and we went to her place to work on a shower in her guest room, and she wants me to drive back to Las Vegas with her next week. Never been out there so that will be pretty cool.

Thought I'd let everyone know ahead of time since i Have some advance notice, and if you're in the Las Vegas area, drop some contact info into this thread and maybe we can meet. I'll be there for about 2 weeks, will also be looking around at band possibilities, if anything really good comes up I won't be against relocating. Will definitely have a guitar with me...just not sure which one yet. Probably an electric with the Fender Champ, since it's small enough to carry around easily.

Sansoheil - (did I spell that right?) We might be going through somewhere near your area, get me some contact info so I can get in touch. Wasn't able to let you know ahead of time last week, didn't have any advance notice, but we went through Shreveport on the way here yesterday, and will be going back through today, then probably somewhere not too far from you in about a week but won't be able to hang around long.

Anyone in Vegas let me know, I'll try to get in touch.

thanks I'll have to check on that, couldn't remember who was in that area. Won't be leaving for a few more days, right now I'm in East Texas at my sister's place, fixing her shower. Getting ceramic tile put on the walls now, just finished a rock floor a few days ago. Should look good...

Well, finally managed to get online again, sitting in a motel in Amarillo right now. Will be headed through New Mexico tomorrow, and into Arizona, planning to check out the petrified forest then maybe the Grand Canyon. Never been to either one so it should be interesting.

So far it's just been a road trip, stayed in Tulsa last night so my sister could visit a good friend in the hospital expecting a little one any time, that was cool but I've been a little under the weather. Picked up some sort of bug just before we left East Texas, had a sore throat and coughed my butt off the past couple of days but feel pretty good now, just still have a cough hanging on. Lotsa cayenne and vitamin C, it's not going to last very long...

No cool pictures yet but I'm sure I'll get some later on, we haven't hit the good scenery yet.

Shredd-
Didn't have much time the other day, if you want to get in touch my cell is

three one eight nine one four three two nine nine.

I'll be a couple more days before Vegas, not sure how much sight seeing we'll do along the way. She's talking about Hoover Dam too, so who knows...it's a road trip...

Hey, Pete. I just Google mapped Bastrop to Las Vegas and then added Tulsa and it showed you going through Fort Smith. Is that the way you went? If so, you passed within 10 miles of my house. :o

Rat -

We spent a week in Huntington Texas, left from there and didn't get close to Arkansas. Did go through Kilgore, TX where George lives, and I called him, but he was at work so we weren't able to hook up.

When I go back I'll be flying, not sure yet if I'll be setting down in Jackson Miss or Little Rock. If it's Little Rock, I know a bass player there I want to meet and I'll get in touch with you here so maybe we can meet too.

Well, the latest update. Haven't been able to get online in 2 days, flaky wireless every time I tried. Sitting in a motel in Flagstaff Arizona now, made a trip through the petrified forest and painted desert today, my first for both. Talk about some cool scenery...Took over 200 pictures...

Went to a dinosaur museum in Tucumcari yesterday, that was plenty cool, then drove to Gallup NM. Finally got a room, supposed to have wireless and this thing refused to connect for some reason.

Decided to postpone the trip to the Grand Canyon and go on to Vegas tomorrow, unless another museum or scenic spot distracts us on the way, so by tomorrow night I should be there. Planning on a trip back to the Grand Canyon later after the cold front moves through, we froze today but had a good time despite the weather.

Made it to Vegas, played tourist all the way and got here a day or two later than expected.

But did have a good trip and got to see some great places we both never had a chance to see before. Painter Desert, Petrified forest, a dinosaur museum...it's been interesting and very enjoyable, lots better than the straight through drive my sister usually makes when she works on the road.

Also went to see Red Rock Canyon after we got here, and of course the infamous Las Vegas strip, which was cool. I took loads of pictures on the way, but very little wildlife, mostly wildflowers and landscapes. Lots of great scenery out here.

Planning to look up a couple of open mic nights and try to play a little, no open mics in my area so that should be fun, been itching to get out and play for quite a while, and stuck in a small town with no music scene so I'm going to try and take advantage of a couple of places to at least jam for a few minutes.

Maybe a different kind of wildlife, Pete.

Actually, I found out today it was Fremont St, not the "strip", which is a different place. Sorry to mislead, but we'll be checking it out later.

Rat - Looks like I'll be flying back on the 9th, schedule is Little Rock around 8:15pm. Not sure yet where but I'll have a layover too, if you're not far from Little Rock a meet at the airport would be cool, or somewhere in the area. A friend is picking me up for the trip home, won't have long, but might be able to take a few minutes if you can get loose, it's a Saturday night.

I'll have to see about pics of some of that "wildlife"...plenty of it around here but don't tell crip any boobies are involved...we'll never get him outta here. So far I haven't seen anything to match the outfits parading down 6th street in Austin almost nightly, but the scenery is nice for sure...

:D

Hey Pete. After our show, we've been taking a break before our upcoming schedule. It's just been kind of nice to chill at home for a little bit. We've been hitting it hard lately so sometimes we all just hibernate for a few days. You'd think I'd use the time to clean up around here, but instead I'm making a huge mess. I've got guitar parts EVERYWHERE!!

Anyway, I'm heading to Bakersfield for a few days to visit the family. I'll give you a call when I get back. We're playing 4 gigs next week. It'd be cool if you dropped by and met the band.

Here's our schedule for next week.

Apr 30 2009 8:00P
vox wine lounge Henderson, Nevada
May 1 2009 6:00P
PALO VERDE SCHOOLS OUT CONCERTS LAS VEGAS, Nevada
May 2 2009 2:00P
Lei Day Las Vegas Festival las vegas, Nevada
May 3 2009 8:00P
The Pent House Strip Club Las Vegas, Nevada

You would think I would recommend the strip club gig. But actually the Vox is more fun. It's a back patio gig. The weather is awesome, $2.00 Heineken, and the food is great. Hawaiian BBQ. Last time we played there the girls were better looking than what I normally see in strip clubs anyway.

If you're more into a laid-back family atmosphere, the festival is cool too. You get more of the cultural aspect of Hawaiian traditional stuff. Bands, Hula Dancers, Art, the whole 9-yards. It's obviously not as big as Pure Aloha. But still really cool.

Here's a link with the info:
http://www.tamaevaarii.org/LD2009/GInfo.html

2-blocks from Freemont St.

As far as open mic spots. I used to play at money plays myself years ago. But just so you know, there are open mics everywhere. Since Vegas is so spread out and there's basically a bar on damn near every block it seems, they're usually pretty empty. Open mic nights don't do very good business here. If you want to do it just for the fun of it , you shouldn't have a hard time finding one. But usually there's not much of a crowd to perform in front of. They're usually held on Mon-Thurs. And with this economy, people aren't going out as much on those days. The Vox is about as crowded as you're gonna see a bar on a Thursday.

Anyways... I didn't forget about you man. We'll hook up soon ok.

Peace!!
