Would you like..

Would you like to a fun little song writing?

I often jam with people and they say their influences range from A-Z.

I ended up with a short string of lyrics that I use with just about anyone I jam with. I use it to see what and where their influences lie and how I can interact with them. (Warning: They are semi cheesey)

I was going to suggest that maybe I could throw down that short set of lines. You can write whatever music you feel for them AND you are free to change them as much as you want, as long as we can still see that you used at least a couple of the words.

Afterward we can post 'em up and see who lies where amo0ng what.
I.E. I am sure everyone will do something different and you'll get a wide range of creativity.

Sound like fun to you?

Who is ready for the couple few lines to be used?

(I am working on mine and almost finished, but wouldn't release until everyone else is done as well so as not to skew the results)

sounds like fun to me, my influences are eclectic for a "kid" of my age and I know just enough about theory to not be totally lost, don't ask me key or scale but I know enough about note relations to have a chance and ZI have a decent processor set up I can get a bunch of sounds from it, synth's and wah's (no pedal to get the real swing in sound though) and the delay is pretty good as is the chorus, I got a few sheets of lyrics around here somewhere that I could donate to the cause, I know what I want it to sound like but individual ideas are well just that.

It's very basic..

I give you some lyrics and you modify/write/change them to what you like/feel/etc.

scale? key? Theory>? LOL

No one will ask you what key it's in. (well I won't)

Music can be like math and math is not fun to me.

This is supposed to be fun and yet revealing..

All you would need is to be able to generate some music. Mine is guitar, bass, keys, a fake drum track and a vocal track. I am not particular though, you could post anything you LIKE. Even if it was just a guitar track, I am sure everyone would like to hear your interp of what's going on. I know I listen to music sometimes and I hear other tunes within.

That's my attraction. I listen to the music within and that gives me ideas to create even more ..

2 out of 40 hmmmmmmm?

Well maybe we won't then.. It's supposed to be fun, not anxiety causing.

(looks around) Only seems like a couple are willing to extend themselves and try something slightly different.

Cap, I'd love to try it, but have no recording stuff at the mo. That may change soon, who knows...things have been a lil rough lately...

As a rule I go from music to lyrics, & not the other way around, but there've been exceptions, so sure, if I ever get my sh*t together I'd give it a whirl, wtf!

Well that's very cool of you Philby and I expected as much.

Still that's 3 out of 300.

I feel like I'm a Spartan in a sea of Persians.. lol

Idk about you guys, but it's about a 5-10 minute process to pump out a tune.
It's won't be perfect, but what is?

"it's about a 5-10 minute process to pump out a tune"

That explains a lot.

Wouldn't you be better suited to participate so you can show us all how superior you really are Jimmy?

LOL

Sorry I spend a lot more than 5-10 minutes on my compositions, and I certainly don't collaborate with hacks.

Lemme get this straight. Those coupla lines will inspire music to fit these lyrics. Are you providing vocals or is it strictly instrumental?
Sounds fun though.

OK you have a couple of takers, that's better than nothing, but how can we do anything if we don't have anything to do it with?

Where are the damn lyrics??? In other words, put up or shut up...sorry to be so harsh, but if even ONE person wanted to do it, I'd be spitting out lyrics.

Come to think of it, here ya go, right off the top of my head.

Standing on the corner, walking cane in hand
Looking at her closely thinking wouldn't it be grand
One here in the hand or two out in the bush
Won't ya sit here honey I promise not to push

Yeah it's lame and needs fine tuning but like I said, right off the top of my head.

Who's up to it?

I'm off to the lake, it's overcast and that means the barometer is low, the bass must be biting...later guys.
