Once again I get slammed for making faces when I screw up during the show.
I know I should not, I know why I should not. I just want to nail my parts soo bad I just cant seem to help myself.
Any advice on how to break this habit?
Seems all my intensity showes in my face. Its a good thing when I'm hot.
But it sucks when I'm not.

Learn to smile when you flook up...in anything & everything. It works.
Especially in music - your mistakes are rather fleeting, but a smile lasts.
I know it sounds corny, but what else you gonna do - take yourself totally seriously FOREVER?
I think I prolly laugh at me more than anyone in the whole world. Takes some of the pressure off.

Phil you took my line, so I'll go one better: laugh. I have the poker face going when I play, no one can tell what I'm thinking.

Perfectly put.

One of the guitarists in the band always has an "O" face when he plays a solo or a fast riff ROFL
If I see him while singing, I can't help but at least giggle.. it's hilarious.
What to do? Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel... and your mouth closed lol

The audience for the most part doesn't know if you make a mistake or not. Don't do anything different, just like you"re playing poker. And for God's sake if you make a mistake DON"T EVER STOP PLAYING. Keep going and get the song back together. Sometimes mistakes can turn into something better. We"ve screwed up a bunch of times over the years and actually stumble onto something better. Be open-minded and enjoy your mistakes...

If your not horribly off you can sometimes just repeat the mistake, but as Bob said they rarely even know or notice when you blow it. Remember your audience is not a room full o musicians. Most of them have no idea when a mistake is made.

"If you mess up, do it twice & it's jazz!"
I don't remember who told me that, but I've always smiled just thinking about it (& someimes I even DO it).

Yea, I know better than to stop. I get back into the groove asap.
I have even swapped roles when Ray had a string break, went from playing accent to doing the full rythym untill he could swap out guitars.
I will have to work on my "poker face".

I agree with Philby, laugh it away. I do two things actually. If I show any reaction at all it's a grin, and as Hayden said, I usually try to do the same thing over again and make it sound like it belonged there. Works great, usually even the musicians can't tell I screwed up.

HAAA!!!!
Reminds me of a joke that I'm sure everyone's heard....
What do you call a guy that hangs out with a bunch of musicians?
A drummer!
