We're jamming tomorrow at noon. Three lead singers (a fourth one can't make it). I mean three front man lead singers. An accoustic guitarist (never played with one before), killer harmonica player/lead singer, lead guitarist/vocalist (still need one for now I guess), me (bass player/lead singer) and drummer/vocalist. I'm already thinking of tunes we've done for years where we can add harmonies. Also tunes we've done for years where I'd like to hand over the lead vocals to somebody else (I've been the main vocalist in band the last six years, it's a pain but somebody's got to do it). This is a huge shift in our philosophy, but we need to do something different. Some people are coming out of the woodwork wanting to get into this action, where have they been hiding? Anyway, we'll see how it goes. Lots of possibilities...

Hello Bob, Good luck man, we are a 3 peice band and have set our self's up to not really need another piece. We are all 3 lead and harmony singers and we just recently lost a member and are auditioning a 4th person tomorrow a rythm, keyboard, singer.

We are auditioning 2 people tomorrow at 3:00 that want to be in our band wish us luck and I will talk to you tomorrow to see how things worked out for you.

Onward and upward brother!

Rehearsal went well today. Had one of the very best harmonica players in K.C. sit in with us. Good singer too. I think he might have a profile page on Bandmix, the name of his band is Bluez57. Next week we've got our old friend Ed Brunt from Lawrence, Kansas coming in for a jam. That's the man I'm really looking forward to. The lead singer/accoustc guitarist is certainly a welcome addition. We may have overwhelmed him with our power, he's not used to the power we bring. He's got a great voice for blues, loved his harmonies. The new guitarist is not used to having this much freedom to improvise. I don't like doing covers note-for-note. If somebody wants to do them that way that's fine. The problem is when you screw up and you"re not used to improvising it can lead to train wrecks. You got to be able to think fast on your feet and KEEP PLAYING and KEEP JAMMING. He's doing a good job not knowing the majority of tunes we do (lots of originals). We'll be gig ready if we can get together once a week for about two months. We sound better now than most of the bands around town anyway. Now to get this thing ORGANIZED. That's the key with so much diverse talent, especially the variety of vocals we can bring. We can take just about any tune and the way we play it will be bluesy. We did a smoking hot version of Bad Bad Leroy Brown with blazing harmonica in it. Never played it before in my life. The new lead singer was astonished. No end to the possibilities here. Just got to get organized. Later...

I was glad my snafu was on original tunes this weekend, when you make mistakes in key no one is the wiser.

looks like we"re getting a harp player who's licensed to break jaws. He's a seventh or eigth degree black belt in Tae Kwan-Do. He goes around the country testing and demonstrating (cinder block smashing). I think he's up to breaking eleven cinder blocks with one arm swing. I've played in bands with him before, he's an incredibly good harmonica player and excellent lead singer. Just an outstanding individual. Everyone was astonished how good we sounded the first time (three new people). Maybe myself and the drummer having played together for a dozen years has something to do with that. It's amazing what an airtight bass and drums can do for a band.

I have been kinda mia the last week or so. Been working with the band NO WORRIES. Playing evrrything from monster magnet and korn to country.

Bob, good luck, break a leg and all that good stuff. When some drunk gets confrontational with the band the harmonica player could probably double as the bouncer just have him throw them out and if they resist he could just break their jaw LOL.

It's amazing what an airtight bass and drums can do for a band.

You got that right, nothing like a tight rhythm section. If the bass and drums can work together well, it makes such a huge difference...sometimes it can make your skin crawl...

Good luck with this project, I just wish I was in that area and in on it, sounds like a killer band. Good harmonies can get the crowd's attention like nothing else. Band I was with in Texas had 4 good singers, 3 of us excellent with harmonies, the other guy tended to follow someone else, but we still had great harmonies for Eagles stuff and that type of thing, All we had to do is keep dead time between songs down to a minimum and the crowd was ours for the night...add sax and a good guitar player, killer keyboard player (bass player actually, doubled on keys now and then) and it was one hot band. I hope yours turns out just the same.

Yeah when he played with us five years ago some redneck started giving him sh*t. At the time one of his arms was in a sling having just been operated on. Within 30 seconds the idiot was outside the bar looking in, no kidding. He asked me if next time he had my permission to kill somebody like that. I told him it wasn't a good idea being a policeman and having his body registered as a deadly weapon to kill somebody off-duty. He probably would lose his job. Everything happened so quick I had no time to intercede. Next time I'll step in between and soften some idiot up so he doesn't have to kill anybody...on the other hand he's retired from the police so I'll go ahead and give him permission to finish the job...
