Well I broke down and picked up an MXR Carbon Copy analog delay pedal. It's the closest thing to the sound of an Echoplex (had an EP for years) that Ive ever played through. Gives that nice big spacial sound that I remember from the old days. I'll put up a sound sample when I get a chance. The only thing I would change is to put it in a bigger box so that the 2 trim pots inside for the modulation speed, and intensity (simulates tape wow and flutter on the repeats when the "mod" button is down) could be put on top as regular control knobs.

Hey congrats. The EP is on my wish list, but I'd willingly take a MXR if the opportunity (really cheap) presented itself lol.

Have fun with it!

The MXRs are fairly reasonable, around the $150-175 range. My buddy has one of the Fulltone Tube Tape Echoes, and it sounds fab, but at $1200...a little too rich for my blood

Dax,
I once had a tube type Guild Copy Cat tape echo. It was a pain in the arse to keep tapes spliced, but sounded great. Used it for live vocals.

You're absolutely right HJ, back in the 70s I new that the echoplex would sound spectacular during a gig...IF it worked!
