Uploading Problems With Bandmix

Well I finally figured out how to get stuff from the Tascam to the new PC, and I've been able to send stuff out for folks to listen to...the 2 exceptions being my one buddy who has a MAC computer, and Bandmix. Could this be because the new PC is saving my tunes as WMAs rather than MP3s? I'm assuming that's the problem with the Emails to the MAC, but didn't think Bandmix was as picky with file types. DAMN... I've covered the solo sections from The Beatles "Let It Be" album, and single versions that came out pretty close tone wise!

Hey ,
I listen to your material quite often and notice that "Let it be" is still in a WAV formatt and cant be on your player..Does this new computer not have the codecs required to save in the Mp3 formatt?..What did ya use before? How many kbps do you save at when ya did all the other tunes on your player? Yeah,if your porting BIG WAV files, Im just curious how your sending them through the mail???..What service are ya using?

John

Well THAT'S odd...The Bandmix upload page is showing these tunes as being successfully uploaded as WMA, not WAV files, but when I go to my player...nowhere to be found?!?!?

Well Ill tell ya this, A WMA file sounds ALOT better than MP3 at 320 (high as you can go) kbps.
AND its much smaller ????? Go figure that???..Its a shame we cant use that formatt here.Heck , I save at 256kbps and can still only get 2-3 tunes on here.I just did a test at saving at several CRB's and VBR's settings and Ill be danged if the WMA file was BEST sounding and looked closest to the original WAV. file..Never woulda guessed that?...Yeah , I always took for granted that a WMA was a WAV formatt and WAS a BIG file just like a regular WAV file...I gotta study this now.

If I take a WMA file and just rename the extension (*.wma) to "mp3" - it plays.

That's weird. I guess it takes up a lot more space.. no wait.. wma is ms version of mp3 right? I was thinking of .wav ..

Hey Robin and Alan,

Now, are your doing that "AFTER" its up loaded into the bandmix realm, OR are you changing the "Name" of the file in the computer Before its up loaded..BECUASE, when I try to change its name (file ext.) in the computer, it says , it may not open under the same application. Well, the computer was right, I changes into an unknown ext and becomes totally useless to Windows media OR my adobe recording software..Where are you changing the name of this file and how?

Thanks,
John

All I do is change the .WMA to .mp3

Most times it works

I find the file on my computer and just change the extension

Example: Highway to hell.wma change to Highway to hell.mp3

I don't think it works with a WAV format though.

Hmm with this new computer (Vista operating system) I don't see the file extensions. I love new challenges! Sheesh :?

If you so much as put a period . in the damn name , it changes it to a file that looks like deal with 3 dots in it, an NOTHING will play it.. nothing will open it???..I tried to "trick it" in to thinkin it was an MP3, but the B outsmarted my ass... ...Oh well, MYSPACE lets me load WMA's... I read the WHOLE history on how that formatt came about readin " as ANDRAGON would say" WIKI WIKI" ..

If ya got adobe audition or even maybe cool edit or nero wave may let you convert a wav file or wma to mp3 or mp3pro. I do it all the time in audition. But 1st you have to convert it to the "lookable" editable wave thing and just hit "save as" mp3..etc..
I used to use a wav to mp3 converter shareware prog from american-shareware or something,,, they're everywhere.. look at majorgeeks.com, just for one.. I'll try to research it..

It'll last a year or 2 ( you have to pay for it ) buttttttt.... wtf.....

Oh- and by changing the suffix of a filename wont do your PC much good,,, lol .. experience talking rather than conjecture..
